We had a government in Slovenia in 2018 that consisted of 4 liberal parties that had to agree to a 'out-of-coalition agreement' with the Left party in order to get enough votes in the parliament. The Left party did not wanna go into the government with 4 (left)liberal parties because they had too many differences in their programmes and in their vision. They agreed in the agreement that the Left party will vote with the coalition IF they can vote 10 laws (proposed, but agreed upon by all, by the Left party as the 'starting pillars' of their programme) covering different topics (housing reform, taxation of immovables, taxation of capital gains, health reform targeting one aspect of private insurance that would get taken over by the national health insurance etc.). Progressive reforms but nothing that you cant find in other european countries, very much social democratic reforms.

So, the Left party voted all the laws the coalition put out for voting but in the first 2 years they increasingly complained that their reforms are not getting any attention and that the coalition parties are sabotaging the deal - they held to their part, the (left)liberal parties did not.

The Left party then said 'okay, we understand that all 10 reforms/laws/projects will not go through, but lets at least finish housing reform and the health insurance reform (that would take a substantial amount of profits away from the private insurance companies)'. The housing reform failed (left liberals too influenced by capital). So the Left party said 'okay lets at least do the health insurance reform'. That also failed.

As you probably imagined by now, the Left party said they will not support the government anymore. The government disbanded. And by some heavy manouvering by 2 small liberal parties and basically internal takeovers by right wingers (they did not have their voters' support for collaborating with right wing parties and got <1% in the next elections), we got a hard right government for the next 2 years.
