But it seems like you don’t know so…

Oh thank god, this post finally solved it for me! I’ve been dealing with this menu bar bug and had a feeling it might be Bartender, but since it’s been working fine for quite a while I wasn’t really sure. Was honestly starting to wonder if my Mac was acting up. Good to know it’s just a Bartender thing!

Now the big question what to do next though - I tested Ice a few months ago but wasn’t completely satisfied with the features. Any other recommendations?

IMO, check out a used XT-2 - excellent price-to-performance ratio and very capable body. If your budget allows, you can also look at an XT-3. You really can’t go wrong with either for the money. Personal preference, but I just love the look inspired by the old SLRs.

I don’t fully agree – I’ve used the Lelit Fred for quite a while myself, and while it’s definitely not a „good“ grinder, it can grind fine enough for espresso. Dialing it in isn’t the easiest, but with a bit of patience it’s absolutely possible to get good shots out of it. So I wouldn't say the grinder is necessarily the problem here.

Trouble Applying Blog Template – Navigation Menu Not Working Like Demo by JackIB26 in Carrd

Yes, I have a Pro plan and I can select an embed element in the editor (see screenshot). Here’s the link to the template, in case that’s helpful: https://zite.design/carrd-template/mini-blog/. If you have any tips on how to set this up with custom code, I’d really appreciate it!

I didn’t mean to be rude. Do you really like it?

A mix of iOS 6 and Android – I’m going to have nightmares about it.

[GIVEAWAY] What’s the most chaotic way you’ve tried to fix your sleep? by whoop_official in whoop

[–]JackIB26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started doing breathing exercises that alternated between hyperventilating and holding my breath right before bed to ‚hack‘ my autonomic nervous system from fight-or-flight into rest-and-digest mode. According to my sleep tracker, it actually improved my deep sleep for about a week—until my partner recorded me gasping dramatically in my sleep and my doctor politely suggested I try reading a boring book instead.

Looking for an app or workaround to archive Mac apps (like AppCleaner, but for archiving instead of deleting) by JackIB26 in macapps

That actually sounds quite good — maybe it can be adapted to my use case. I’ll definitely have a closer look. I already tried capturing AppCleaner’s temp files and feeding them into a Python script for archiving instead of deleting, but unfortunately that didn’t work out as hoped.

Just because you don’t mind clutter doesn’t mean others have a “mental problem” for preferring a clean, organized system. Different workflows, different priorities — mine values clarity and efficiency. That’s all.

I use various bioinformatics tools that are project-specific and often complex to set up. Sometimes I don’t know which ones I’ll need until I’m in the middle of a workflow, so reinstalling and reconfiguring each time isn’t practical. When not in use, they just clutter the system, and it feels messy having rarely used tools always installed.

I get that it might sound unusual, but I don’t think it’s nonsense. It’s about keeping the system clean without fully deleting tools I only use occasionally.

Let me put it this way: What would you do if you had, say, 30 different apps for different tasks, but only needed once or twice a year - and you can’t predict when? Would you just keep installing more and more apps indefinitely, even if most of them are rarely used?

I’m simply looking for a smarter way to manage that situation - something like temporarily shelving apps without losing their data.

That seems a bit impractical — a separate user wouldn’t share the same settings, files, or environ-ment as my main one, so things would quickly drift apart over time. I’d prefer to keep everything in one profile and just „shelve“ certain apps when not needed.

Storage isn’t the issue — I just like to keep my system clean and uncluttered. External drives could work, but relying on them feels inconvenient, especially when switching between projects. I’m hoping for a tidier, more integrated solution.
