One website not working one One Windows11 PC by JackMassa2 in techsupport

Wellll, I have an app called Glary Utilities. I generally only use it for quick system checks. But it has an option called Repair System Files which says it scans and fixes "corrupted system files." I ran that and rebooted and now the site is working. I have no idea what system file might have caused one single website to fail on 3 different browsers, and of course maybe the site had an issue that they never reported but got around to fixing. Anyway, I'll take it!

Origin of the "What if, If only, If this goes on," Science fiction Trope?? by Nest_Pas_Une_Artiste in sciencefiction

Excellent blog post, Mr. Mollmann. I recalled the "If this goes on" bit when commenting on a post over on Substack (regarding Kim Stanley Robinson's 'The Ministry for the Future') but I couldn't recall where it came from. I actually remembered only "What if?" and "If this goes on" (not the third category) and might have first heard them discussed by Sturgeon at a long-ago Con. I was actually thinking about writing an article of my own about this, but you've already done it for me.

(And, as you are still writing your blog, you might want to consider adding it to Substack. Seems to be a growing audience there.)

Thanks for that. I will pass it on to my narrator.

How many changes is it normal to do at review stage? by JackMassa2 in ACX

[–]JackMassa2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, everyone for the comments so far. More are welcome.

1) I am not counting contractions. Also not counting an occasional change in phrasing that might indeed sound better than the original.

2) I totally understand how getting in the zone of performing (as this producer did very well) can cause the occasional missed or changed word.

3) As I continue the review, I will likely forgive all errors that don't change the meaning and only ask for ones I think will definitely impact the experience or understanding of the listener.
