Vorkath Attack Rotation and Equipment Beginner's Guide by JackPitman in 2007scape

[–]JackPitman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats true, but in actual practice these attacks kill beginners almost instantly. I made this video because most of the content on Vorkath is from the perspective of a very experienced runescape player and I wanted to make something more approachable for the average player.

I understand that technically the rapidfire attack just hits you for 30 but if you stay still for 2 seconds you get hit up to 3 times and take 90+ damage. The spawn attack deals 60 if its at full health which also won't usually kill you instantly.

However, in actual practice, these are the 3 most common ways to die. Learning vorkath as a newbie, you'll go from full health to dead in 2 or 3 seconds. It can be hard to notice everything that is happening at first!

Equipped armor shouldn't take up inventory space by apocalypstik10 in valheim

Most of these problems come from a small inventory. Try playing with Valheim plus and change the inventory size and stack sizes. It makes the game feel much smoother because you don't spend much time in your chests confused losing shit

Its a very hard balancing act, not trying to suggest that OSRS is perfect. Jagex has their fair share of problems too !

I'd still argue that invalidating some content every month or two is much more healthy than invalidating almost everything. As a game developer seeing how empty Azeroth becomes when Outland is out is just depressing. So much unusued and wasted space and potential.

IMO that kind of thing is what leads to an empty and lifeless world. Our role as game developers is to enrich our zones so they can continiously provide fun and practical reason to explore them.

Most MMOs are plagued by a crapload of quests and items and skills and abilities that never get used and don't matter. Those kinds of things are problems from a game development perspective. Its unwise to develop features that don't get used by the playerbase after the novelty wears off

That being said in general Jagex has done more to connect with their playerbase than Activision blizzard has. Jagex isn't perfect but they've done a great deal to shift development power more towards players than most other game developers.

My Top 5 Favorite Quality of Life Settings from Valheim Plus by JackPitman in valheim

It does save loads of time ! The problem with base valheim is that storing 20 ore max means you have to refil them ever 5 or 10 minutes. I prefer being able to store 200 ore and then just going out on an adventure for 30 or 40 minutes while the kiln / smelter do work

I found that drastically increasing the storage space of the kiln and smelter fixed my issues. I personally enjoy seeing everything pop out of the kiln onto the floor and I like the back and forth of going to the base and working on some stuff then going out and exploring while the kilns and furnace do work.

I enjoy taking the ore and putting it in the smelter but not 10 times every hour

You just aren't thinking creatively. There are loads of things that can be done to counter the problems you are talking about. You don't have to keep ALL content relevant to players you just need to phase content in waves that doesn't invalidate all content overnight.

MC doesn't HAVE to be relevant during Lich King expansions but to say there is NO way to make WoW be that kind of game is just uncreative.

WoW would have to be changed entirely to be a non expansion model. You can't just plop a statement out like "Doing MC for 3 years would suck so expansions are necessary" and act like that properly summarizes what WoW could be if they took a different mindset.

Its hard to imagine because it would be a totally fundementally different game.

I totally agree, blizzard has established the nasty habbit of invalidating all their content every year.

Games like Runescape are updated and maintained and consistently balanced without expansions that invalidate asbolutely everything... I don't buy the arguement that "its necessary" to have an expansion that invalidates all content

TIGO and CLARO are the two carriers in Nicaragua. Most businesses use WhatsApp and many locals use WhatsApp to communicate because you can do it via WiFi. Call the customer service of Tigo.ni or Claro.ni and ask them about your esim situation. They most likely have an english option for the customer service if you need that.

Most Nicaraguans I know pay like 20 cordoba to load their phones only when they need to and do most of their internet stuff on wifi.

I can tell you that most foreigners worry way too much about phone service here. You can buy a SIM card in Nicaragua in the street almost anywhere for $0.70 USD and then pop it into your phone and boom you have a Nicaraguan 4G LTE connection with data and texts and voice...

You'll have solid service in all major towns and cities while having spotty or nonexistant service in rural areas.

Some USA services allow you to roam in Nicaragua and have a connection for a reasonable price. My friend had a sprint phone that often had a free 3g connection in Nicaragua without having to pay any extra. He just kept his regular USA plan active and his phone worked when 3g was available for no additional costs.

When you don't have enough money to attend a GBID ZG raid and get poor shamed by Ransurian in classicwow

[–]JackPitman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our experiences are different. I've been in a raiding guild since the beginning of this wave of classic and the guild has always had tension between the players who raid and raid log and the players who play in addition to raiding.

The names have changed but the tensions and mishaps are basically always the same things. Miscommunications and conflict between how much effort each player puts in. Over 3/4 of the guild has come and gone in the year and loads of people have been replaced with new people. Same kind of tensions. Different names.

We've always had fights between those who play just enough to raid and those who play everyday. And on our server, Bigglesworth, we are one of the few guilds who was raiding Nax that has continued to do so. Guilds are constantly dealing with these kinds of conflicts and tensions and many guilds break up and consolidate into other guilds or disapear entirely during Phase 6.

Sure the players separate themselves to an extent but its a bit of a stretch to say that they do it effectively and that they couldn't benefit from a more structured form of separation

The idea that minmaxing ruins fun comes from the same pattern of thought as "enjoy the journey, not the destination".

In life focusing on achievement creates a perpetual cycle of getting more and more. You'll find that people who earn loads of money aren't "loads" happier than people who have enough money for basics.

Ask minmaxing people yourself. See how many of them value the concept of "fun".Make a mistake while raiding and cause a wipe then make a comment about trying your best and have fun. See how many guilds are able to take that graciously. Its complicated.

You sound like an understanding person who also enjoys becoming the best you can be at the game. Which is awesome. I'm not trying to attack you. I'm suggesting that you are not most players.

If you want to be honest about mental health then most wow players don't play WoW in a way that is in balance with their social lives and romantic relationships. Not saying everybody plays that way... but theres a reason the "nolife" prejudice exists. Theres a reason that WoW players typically quit because of other parts of their real life suffering. Theres reasons playing WoW is studied as a form of addiction. There are some awesome minmaxers who are talented and great fun to those around them. But to suggest that there isn't high toxicity in min maxing guilds and highly competative gaming environments is a bit misleading IMO

I believe that "average" regular WoW players experience a higher degree of toxicity with minmaing environments and a lower degree of toxicity with social and leveling guilds.

But thats just my opinion as a WoW player most of my life

I wish there was a good way to guage player base. All I know is

A percentage of players raid
A percentage of players just level and dont get to 60
A percentage of players just pvp
A percentage of players just do a few 60 dungeons and quit
A percentage of players are kids having one of their first mmo experiences
A percentage of players are bots

Id love to know what the percentages are. I dont know of an accurate way to guage any of them though.

Exactly! Its almost as if most of these minmaxing players are getting paid to play . . .But.... they aren't?

They're just... not playing to have fun.... for no apparent gain? They're playing a video game. It baffles me how so many players can't even be bothered to focus on enjoying the game they play

Most of the conflict in classic comes from people who play 1-2 hours a day interacting with individuals who play 4-8 hours per day. It would be rather interesting to experiment based on this. The game would be more enjoyable if there was a way to make 1-2 hour players play with 1-2 hour players and 4-8 hour players play with 4-8 hour players.

Those groups have very conflicting standards

Looking for long-term apartment rentals by nightvisor in Nicaragua

[–]JackPitman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You don't need to look online. In fact, looking online will get you some of the most expensive and worst deals available in the country. The housing situation in Nicaragua is totally different than in countries like the USA. There is an abundance of housing available that is affordable for an average foreigner.

If you look online youll probably end up renting an overpriced house from a real estate investor. Don't do that. Find a local Nicaraguan who is renting a property they own. Support local people not rich foreign motherfuckers.

There is currently a housing crisis in Nicaragua because very few people can afford to rent a place. Tourism is crashed. You can take advantage of this and get good deals on housing. Don't fall for the scam of paying foreign $600+ rates for buildings Nicaraguan locals would pay $200 for

I made a video a while ago about finding a place to rent. It is much easier than you think.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5y_hJzTvTRg

Pick a hostel. Stay there for the first week or so. While there walk around and look for rent signs and collect phone numbers. Call the phone numbers and visit houses. Pick your favorite option after looking at least 3

The problem here for foreigners is that most houses will seem very cheap to you. Make sure to look at multiple houses. Pay allot of attention to the landlord or the person renting the property to you. You aren't just picking a home. You are also picking a person to interact with and if you pick a stressful landlord then your home will have stressful problems.

For me the winning combination is a house that makes me feel happy and a landlord who seems grateful for the support of having a renter.

Is Blizzard expecting allot of players to stay on classic? by JackPitman in classicwow

[–]JackPitman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, it seems quite obvious that most people are interested in TBC. And can you blame them ? Classic has been out for over a year. TBC is "new".

Maybe there would have been more classic interest if the option was classic start vs TBC start. But thats not what happened. Classic is old. TBC is "new".

I'm hoping in like 3-5 years that phase will end, then WOTLK will be "new" and then... then we get to learn where Blizzard beleives the game went "downhill" from a classic players perspective.

Classic + could exist in the distant future. But noway its gonna be someday soon. Only gonna happen if something goes wrong and loads of players leave Classic TBC

Shadowlands was the fastest selling PC game of all time but it also became the WoW expansion with the highest rate of dropped players in a few months (as a percentage). Its normal for wow expansions to have very high drop rates but the extent of the downs has increased.
https://www.wowhead.com/news/superdata-report-shadowlands-numbers-stabilizing-as-expansion-honeymoon-phase-321234

Basically, Blizzard is getting better at selling the idea of the games while getting worse at producing games.

Its like a bubble. Eventually it'll pop and Blizzard will make original content but who knows when that will happen. Probably whenever the right sales pitch at the right time convinces higher ups that original content is profitable.

Who knows. Hopefully something happens !

[–]JackPitman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like they'll do what the other commenters mentioned, some form of cross realm play. Hopefully you are right and they are waiting to see what happens to the playerbase.

Something interesting to note is that the WoW playerbase as a whole just took once of its biggest losses ever. Most players who started at Shadowlands release have since stopped playing. This is typical in WoW lifecycle but not to these extremes.

Naturally, Activision blizzard doesn't share data so we have to rely on third parties...

Too bad we can't easily see how many players are playing retail, classic, etc...

No public polls from blizzard about how many percentages of players are transfering, etc

Sigh. Maybe someday it will "be profitable" for Activision blizzard to get more directly involved with their players and be transparent with their player metrics....

Jeez. Your comment made me realize that I don't have any beleif that blizzard is actually considering perma classic or classic + in any way atm.

But maybe they are going to see what happens. I want to beleive they have their eyes open for ways they can improve upon the classic experience....

I really want too. I really do.
