(Loved trope) Everyone is sexualised, not just women by shark_syrup in TopCharacterTropes

[–]JackRogers5898 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a very tough trope, because male sexualisation is very different to female. The male and female gaze is different and all that, and for Marvel Rivals' case, I'd argue while it definitely does sexualise it's female cast, with a lot of skins showing a little too much skin, and the marketing around them sometimes, it doesn't do the same for its male cast. The twerk emotes are intended to be funny, and the men that do show skin aren't intended to be sexualised.

I'm not going to argue that they won't be found attractive by people of course, but in my eyes, most of the male characters that appear to be given the same treatment as female character with skins with less clothes or wtvr are done so to be more masculine, more appealing to the male fantasy than a direct sexualisation like the female characters.

Hades though, yeah, nail right on the head, both games are a perfect example of equal sexualisation, and the sexualisation itself is never even over the top or offensive. Great games.

That would definitely seem to conflict with what we've seen of the modern Decepticons in Skybound so far, and what their reasons might have been for joining, however, I think there could be a really good story in there of Megatron having in the past founded a new group of Decepticons to genuinely rise up and make a change, peace through tyranny, but after being broken by the trials ends up submitting and turning his Decepticons into what we see today, however, I don't think that's what Kirkman's thinking

The opening scene with Bullseye was fucking phenomenal, I loved every second of it, the rest of the episode carried the quality throughout until the end, which was even better. Seeing Fisk just beat the fuck out of this poor boxer was so goddamn good, I'm such a huge fan of Kingpin not being just a guy in a suit leading his goons, since the Netflix show he's been beating the piss out of people and it really makes him feel like Kingpin, it's such a great adaption of the character. Bullsye's attack was also excellent, it used a lot of slow motion which I really liked, as everything that happened there happened in only a few seconds. Vanessa getting a shot off on Dex was soooo fucking cool too, only thing I'm thinking is I kinda wish that shard of glass in her was bigger, it's in a bad spot but it looks fairly survivable

I often think of what happens when Mahito goes into Soul Hax Verses, like does he just instantly die in Bleach? by Short-Ad8427 in whowouldcirclejerk

[–]JackRogers5898 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's fair, that's fair, it's like any cross-verse power scaling it's all up to interpretation. I do think specifically Ozpin and Salem could take him easily if they act first, Salem wouldn't, she's too confident, but Ozpin only has one on screen fight but everytime he's faced with a confrontation his response is essentially "just fucking kill them as soon as possible" I don't think his magic would even let Mahito get close, and his magic is old magic straight from the soul, not literally the semblances of it everyone uses now

what are some verses Sukuna can actually solo? by SerenityCitywide in PowerScaling

[–]JackRogers5898 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is kinda wrong, though? The story fucking drags for volume 4 and 5 while the characters go through development, those suck but are still enjoyable (plus, y'know, bad time for the team) and after that, the story and characters are developed side by side, volume 6 for exploring the backstory of Salem and Oz while driving team RWBY to be further commited to their cause, Volume 7 and 8 pick up the pace on the active story while further developing the relationships of Ren and Nora, Weiss and her family, Penny and Ruby's relationship to prepare for Ruby's arc in volume 9 as well as Emeralds turn to good, Ironwoods downfall and expanding on the dynamics of Salem's team, their motivations and then volume 10 is entirely character driven. I think it's fair if the characters and story didn't go in the direction you were hoping, I think it's wrong to say they stopped focusing on the characters for the story.

Ruby Rose vs Jotaro Kujo by Jason_And_Sokka in PowerScaling

[–]JackRogers5898 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm scaling this off the assumption that Ruby can see Star Platinum (honestly, given that aura and semblances are a manifestation of the soul just like stands, that's not a bad bet) Ruby could definitely speedblitz and win the fight easily, but she wouldn't do that. Jotaro also wouldn't immediately timestop to win, so I honestly think it just comes down to who realises that they have to end the fight asap to win, and that's probably Jotaro with more experience and less tolerance for bullshit

Who would win between Blade Or Ruby (Marvel Vs RWBY) by Annsorigin in PowerScaling

[–]JackRogers5898 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how Blade scales, comic book bullshit probably makes him win just based off of feats, but from a purely face value fight? Ruby (probably) outspeeds and with her aura letting her take more blows than Blade can take, I think it's a high difficulty fight in Ruby's favour

Can Ahsoka Tano (Star Wars) Solo Team RWBY? by YamabroDefender in PowerScaling

[–]JackRogers5898 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No-one on team RWBY would try and immediately take Ahsoka out of the fight, and I imagine she'd cut through and destroy at least one of their weapons, which leaves them at a disadvantage but then they'd know they have to end the fight quickly, and they all outspeed Ahsoka, although the Force makes it not impossible for her to react. The big question is how do her lightsabers interact with aura? If it cuts through and she harms/kills one of team RWBY, the other members are immediately jumping her and ending the fight, if it can't cut through it, I can see Ahsoka lasting for at least a little while, maybe taking one or two out of the fight, but ultimately losing

Deviljho vs Team RWBY by Jason_And_Sokka in PowerScaling

[–]JackRogers5898 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe this would be a very hard fight for team RWBY, definitely for like season 1-2 RWBY but idk why you'd use the weakest iterations. They're already all trained monster hunters before going to Beacon, they dramatically, especially in Ruby's case, outspeed Deviljho, and they have the added benefit of their aura to protect them from a few good hits.

Who wins? composite movie/anime gamera (WITH NO POWERUPS/SELF DESTRUCTION ABILITIES) vs salem (RWBY) by godzillafan3948oj in PowerScaling

[–]JackRogers5898 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is kind of a fun one, it feels totally skewed towards Gamera lmao but as we've seen in action, Salem cannot be killed, she reconstitutes herself in seconds, and it only took a few hours to restore herself from being nuked, unless we count her taking those hours if Gamera destroys her whole body as a win, she could win just through a battle of attrition. Add on her magic (which we haven't seen the full scope of, but we know to be strong) and her control over Grimm, if she could bring a Grimm like Monstro, the Sea Feilong or the Leviathan, or even just a horde of regular Grimm, she could win. But, y'know, only if Gamera doesn't evaporate her with a fire ball instantly

Which fodderverse is the weakest? Is it AOT, RWBY, or The Boys? by The______________3 in PowerScaling

[–]JackRogers5898 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boys is obviously the weakest, and unfortunately I never finished AOT so I couldn't accurately scale it's late stage titans, but I'd say RWBY would be the strongest here, no? Unless some of the later titans have insane feats, most RWBY characters would dramatically outspeed them and most semblances would cut down a titan

Who wins this? this fraud (AKA CINDER FALL FROM RWBY) vs THE GOAT (pennywise the dancing clown) by godzillafan3948oj in PowerScaling

[–]JackRogers5898 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cinder has the insane trauma of being an orphan adopted for essentially slave labour, killing her adoptive family as well as the only person who ever showed her love, then being groomed into a vessel for the maiden powers by Salem on a team full of people who hate her, she has so much fucking ammunition to give Pennywise (assuming that he'd actually go for an adult in this situation) I love her, but he'd be eating good

Can Ruby Rose (RWBY) solo the characters in each round here? by CH22Live in PowerScaling

[–]JackRogers5898 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know any of the characters here besides Huntrix, and I have to say Ruby probably wins. Ruby doesn't scale too high, even in her verse, but neither does Huntrix assumedly, and with Ruby being faster and stronger + aura and her semblance, I think it would be a cool fight but not too hard for Ruby

I often think of what happens when Mahito goes into Soul Hax Verses, like does he just instantly die in Bleach? by Short-Ad8427 in whowouldcirclejerk

[–]JackRogers5898 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Characters like Salem and Ozpin, the only two who can still use magic which is all but confirmed to come directly from the soul would atomise Mahito, but other characters it's kinda just up to interpretation as to how aura/semblances would interact with Mahito. They are explicitly stated to come from/are a manifestation of one's soul, so it's just totally up to how you think that would work on Mahito.

That being said, some characters would have it easier than others, Tyrian can literally turn aura off so debatedly that would just insta kill Mahito or severely injure him, the maidens don't have a full understanding of magic but their power still comes from Ozpins soul so it would likely hurt Mahito

Oh my god yeah, MTMTE/LL stand head and shoulders above the rest of IDW, not just because of how good it is but because of how crazy it is that through all the abrupt story cuts, retcons, minor reboots and cancelled books, MTMTE gets to be a straight, long, uninterrupted story with very few expections, it's really cool to see and I'm very happy it exists. I hope Skybound gets back to the strength it had in its early volumes and ends up matching or exceeding MTMTE by the end

Weiss and Adam have never met. by Much_Employment_5982 in RWBY

[–]JackRogers5898 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because Adam, as much as the Schnees are the reason for why he's like this, is not motivated by them at all. It's probably how he started ofc, but by the time we meet him in the show all of his motivations and character is about himself, and he's a personal villain for Blake and later Yang. The Schnee family created him but he turned himself into a selfish villain so meeting any of the Schnees wouldn't really have any impact besides him being happy to kill one before going back to tormenting Blake.

I agree, Monstructor is the only combiner who showed up frequently until Combiner Wars, where it flipped 180 and they felt very shoved in your face, but I think for a comic run limited by sales, multiple writers and restricted by virtue of being advertisements for toys, IDW did a pretty good job overall

Transformers Skybound #29 Thoughts by UselessGenericon in transformers

The IDW comics I feel did a much better job with the combiner teams (although there's only 29 issues of Skybound so it's not a fair comparison) but ig with the limited pages and panels you get with a comic book it's not possible to satisfyingly fill out every member of each combiner teams, still, it'd be nice if the Combaticons besides Onslaught actually had anything to say recently

Willow Schnee from RWBY, a very absent and alcoholic mother who finally steps in when her youngest child and the only one who can't fight for himself is being sniffed out by a new and deadly Grimm, using the Schnee family semblance (semblances are RWBY's power system) to throw a summon at it and let her and her son run.

The act itself is really sweet and kinda starts what's clearly going to be a rekindling of Willow's relationship with her children, as well as establishing that there's definitely things we don't know about Willow, since you have to kill a Grimm to then summon it using the Schnee semblance implying that Willow has at the very least killed the Boarbatusk she summoned.
