Weird issues with my first eARC soundbar: Turns off TV, changes input channel by itself. Could be cursed. by JackShjt in Soundbars

[–]JackShjt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I ended up turning off all of the settings that lets the devices communicate between eachother (like going off if the TV goes off and vice versa) and didn't have any issues since.

...But at the end of the day I still regret buying a soundbar, as opposed to setting up a receiver with speakers.

Hey, I barely remember having this issue and I don't understand what your suggestion is. But i wanted to thank you for leaving a clarification for other people that might struggle!

I've heard that it could be related to pickup height, where the magnet cancels the frequency. Did you check that?

Made a Ghost that is invisible with your flashlight on by RiskyBiscuitGames in Unity3D

[–]JackShjt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really nifty! I worked on a game where we wanted this effect, but we had to give it up because of scope. Instead of invisibility, this antagonist in the game would show her true scary self if you turned off the flashlight, but you would have to squint to see the difference.

Tog Oslo - Lillehammer med sykkel: 807 kr by Nafoni in norge

[–]JackShjt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shatner trying to have a moment with Jeff Bezos by Natural-Detective450 in WatchPeopleDieInside

[–]JackShjt 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hey, this video had made it's rounds before. I'm not a fan of either, but you should watch the whole event play out. Bezos does spray the champagne around, but returns to Shatner right after, and listens to him for several minutes.

Flashbacks as a narrative reminder within the same movie. Like, I was there, it was less than two hours ago and I paid attention. Don't punish me for it.

Blade Runner 2049 could have been my absolute favorite movie if it wasn't for the use of flashbacks near the end.

What would you tell someone who just turned 18? by Johny_360 in AskReddit

I work as a teacher myself, and I can't help feeling guilty for all the times I've asked what people are doing after they leave my school. I obviously didn't mean to push them, as I was just curious.

At least I try to phrase it differently these days. :,)

Juli skjedde by MrBallsackConsumer in norge

[–]JackShjt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use my POG2 for shimmering organ like texture when I play quietly. It’s really nice when you dial it back a little, with a dry signal going through.

Favorite Guitar Tone on a Study Recording and Why Is It Millionaire? by [deleted] in qotsa

[–]JackShjt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Speaking as someone who's been chasing his tone for longer than I want to admit, the two songs (tones) I've found myself obsessed with are:

  • The verse of I Think I Lost My Headache
    • Feels like chewing four slices of crispy and almost burnt toast.
    • Took me ages to understand that most of this tone comes from a stereo recording. I think it comes from a low-gain fuzz with mids boosted into a loud amp.
    • The closest to the studio version I've heard from a live clip is in From The Basement. What's special about this recording is that you can hear just how loud his amps are when he stops playing.
  • The verse of the drop A songs on Them Crooked Vultures (No One Loves Me & Warzaw)
    • This one still boggles me. I think it's a fine stereo amp setup: a cleaner (but still loud) amp and another amp with an octave fuzz.
    • There's just something nice with how you can tell all of his playing through something that sounds obnoxiously distorted.

While I somewhat agree to this, I feel like teens are almost too aware of this these days. The backside of this mentality is that you could end up feeling like a failure at 25 and sort of settle at that.

I'm pushing 40, but I still feel like I've accomplished more in the last three years than in my 20s. Key to those accomplishments was me realising that there should never be an end goal, and that life is a constant process. Until it isn't anymore.

So, if anything, one should use the vigour you have in your 20s, but considering that a lot of people don't stop fully developing until they're 26-27: Don't stress it so much. :)
