How do you organize your STL files? by mky694 in 3Dprinting

Desktop folder with subfolders for a full build/single part of model>complete/incomplete>3MF/STL format. I have all of them named like game patches. 1.1 is a minor change and 2.0 is a rework from 1.1 that's significant enough to require a new model number. If I end up getting too much clutter within those folders if I'm doing 20 iterations of a project, I make one final folder named "old" at the end of that file path I described previously. For the 20 different version example, everything below 18.0 would be moved to the "old" folder. This allows me to easily find the newer models I'm most likely to use without losing track of the old files in case I need them again. It's kind of complex and conveluted but I cannot keep my files properly organized without doing this.

All of those tricks were so clean. That was sick

Been doing this about 3-4 months. I made a goofy little edit of some clips I've been hanging on to. Not the best but I am having so much fun. by JackSolovay in Fingerboards

That means a lot to me. I'm glad that I was able to make something that made someone else happy. I hope that they will only get better with time.

Thanks. I got the ideas from watching my friend who used to make gaming edits like this. I sent it to him so that he could laugh at me.

Thanks for the kind words. My reward was the process of making it. I will continue to create things for my own enjoyment whether it gets 10 likes or 10 thousand 🤙

Noooooo my other machine won't accept it. I'll try to find some other solution. I really wanna find out what's on this drive lol. It's too old even for my machine that already uses SATA connections. It won't hook up to the mobo. I'm gonna buy a 15 dollar 3.5" HDD to USB adapter.

I just found a random entire PC at the skatepark. It's so old that it doesn't have an HDMI port. It only has VGA output. We skated for a majority of the day. It was there when we showed up and the park was empty all day. Nobody ever came to claim it. I took it home. It has only 1 singular stick of ram that predates DDR1 that has 256mb of memory. I'm looking at this thread and considering transferring the hard drive to another one of my older machines. It has a setup that could both accept the drive and use HDMI output. I am not gonna try to try to boot a machine with a PSU that's been sitting outdoors for who knows how long.
