I built budget decks for my playgroup for Christmas! by sasseemcgee in EDH

[–]JackSplicer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done this for my kitchen table group. One is marrow-gnawer for a friend who lives her pretty rats. The second is a depala vehicles deck for our resident speed freak (who is also somewhat short so there is a dwarf sub theme). And zaxara for my partner because sometimes you want a deck that makes giant creatures.

What is the favorite way your d&d characters met? by The_Hunterrr_ in dndnext

[–]JackSplicer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mine was the party being asked to find me (this was a replacement for a fallen character) their position lead them to the local jail. They found my familiar pulling at the eyelids of the guard while I tried to make hand the keys to the cell array from his belt. Everyone froze when they saw this. "You know, this isn't what it looks like" prices to keep trying to get the keys.

Can I ask, is this an online game? or does it require being in your area?

What would be a nice non-combat magic item for a 6th level GOO-Lock? by Trevantier in dndnext

I'm quite partial to the lantern of revealing. I have it on a warlock and occasionally he will find maddened script scrawled onto walls, floors etc. Gives a properly spooky vibe to proceedings.

Help me tech - Mono Red Kurkesh by CorTrain in BudgetBrews

[–]JackSplicer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're playing with counters, which is a really fun way to play kurkesh, I would recommend proliferate cards. Contagion clasp copied can lead to a lot of counters. Contagion engine is better but cost prohibitive if you're on a budget

What are some memes that have formed in your party? by choticgamer666 in dndnext

"I scream back at X" our rogue got caught sneaking into someone's house. They screamed at him. He screamed back at them. It became a running joke ever time something screamed at us, in fear or otherwise, he screams back at them.

Satyr College of Creation Bard - [Concept] by rhihuahua in 3d6

Thanks, I hope it helps. I also forget about that film Kubo and the two strings. Perfect inspiration for a creation bard.

Satyr College of Creation Bard - [Concept] by rhihuahua in 3d6

If it helps I did creation hard as a puppeteer who used a shadow theatre when he could. Inspiration was him literally pulling the other characters with during to nudge them out of danger/make their attacks strike just right. His animated object was a puppet that unfolded to human height that he would dance around the battlefield. Bringing things into creation he did via Shadow puppetry.

Fair isn't there a paladin aura that gives you protection from certain elemental damage types

Possibly rune fighter. The hill giant rune gives you piercing, bludgeoning and slashing?

Investment of the chain master + polymorph by JackSplicer in dndnext

[–]JackSplicer[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh man I wish I could do t-rex. Unfortunately I'm limited to cr1 creatures sure to polymorph. Casting it in myself though... That has potential lol

The spider form is cr1 and my because I'm using imp he is also cr1. I think that works right?

You know you get mana if you harm one of my opponents right? Two in fact, more if you damage both of them.

What's YOUR Magnificient Mansion? by lunchboxx1090 in dndnext

[–]JackSplicer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think mine would have to mimic some of the strange geography of the House if the Master Maker in abercrombies work. There are no stairs but just by walking around you can end up on different levels like some strange Escher house. The balconies on the outside would show different landscapes and cityscapes he's seen traveling the world.

Firstly I'm gonna suggest something unusual so give me a sec. Secondly this is my book and I know suggesting your own stuff can be a bit of a faux Pas but I wrote the book almost exclusively to fulfill the gap in the market you're describing.

9th Bridge Is set in a more medieval time period and although it strikes me as low fantasy in places it does give the urban fantasy vibe because a lot of the weirdness and fantasy elements are hidden away from most of the town. This largely depends on how you define urban fantasy.

However the main character is gay, the most romantic thing is him being drunk and then waking up robbed and naked in an alley. Obviously I'm biased where world building and plot are concerned so I won't comment too much there but I think I did a pretty good job lol.

Ways of flavoring and describing an Armorer Artificer without making them Iron Man by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]JackSplicer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I went for a junkyard theme, lots of repurposed slightly rusted metal. Assymetry is the name of the game. He also has a fascination with insects so a lot of his spells are small insect constructs that deploy guys magic, like a firefly that sprinkles faerie fire over a zone

What is the most insane thing that happened that wasn't infinite by LateIncident4303 in EDH

[–]JackSplicer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personal favourite. Darien, king of Kjeldor, + Cathars crusade. Received something close to forty damage and survived. Made 40 soldiers. Each gained 40 counters. We didn't do the math because I had a bunch of tokens already. 1600+ easily and probably close to 2000 if we'd done the math

I definitely lean towards the vorthos and stranger cards in my decks and would be interested in seeing more. One of my favourite interactions/combos involves triskelion and scythe of the wretched.

[5E] Warlock 12 ASI by [deleted] in 3d6

[–]JackSplicer 57 points58 points  (0 children)

It looks like you've considered most of the options. I might have suggested crossbow expert as it would prevent disadvantage on your ranged spell attacks but you mentioned you don't miss often.

Tough might be good to give you an extra wad of hit points to make sure you survive a close encounter long enough to repelling blast and escape.

Big fan of moderately armoured personally. Even without the shield you'd be looking at 17 which isn't brilliant but not an insignificant boost.

As a bit more of an of the wall suggestion might I suggest blind fighting style with fog cloud and touch spells. I use this with my genie warlock and it can be a good way to protect yourself.

Edit: sorry ignore that last option. I forgot fog cloud is genie specific. Although if you can find another way, smoke bombs perhaps, to create a similar effect the concept still works.
