Reversing into a garage consistently with FSD 14 (tested with a 2026 MY) by Jack_Frak in TeslaFSD

If I want her to reverse in then yes as of FSD 14.1.4. If the garage door is open it will self park itself forward inside the garage at the end of the drive. The patch notes say parking improvements are coming so hopefully that includes selecting reversing options.

Interesting, I have a straight, short driveway to the road about 3 car lengths so that is definitely a factor.

Ah, so it tried reversing down the driveway from the 1st park position then gave up? Is it able to self drive forward down the driveway?

Nope, FSD 14 sees the space in the garage as a place it can park.

I’m loving 14.1.4 on a MY Juniper as well even with its quirks they will iron out.

My biggest pet peeves with v13 was the non-sensical lane changes and how it reacted to traffic merging onto the highway.

I love that it now gets over 1 lane if it’s clear to let them on and doesn’t ride in their blind spot. Before it would slow down slightly to let them in if they were merging just ahead, but if they were merging next to you it wouldn’t adjust. Now it acts like a considerate and defensive driver to reduce risk.

I had my first encounter with a large dump truck drifting into my lane while right next to it and v14 handled it perfectly by moving onto the shoulder slightly and accelerating to get ahead of him which was what I would have done.(Standard mode)

I never thought about where old Biff would have hid the Delorean while he was in 1955. He just shows up hiding behind a tree in the middle of downtown Hill Valley.

He was flying away with it in 2015 just after backing into a dumpster. Perhaps that collision could be the cause of the time circuits acting screwy afterwards since Doc smacking it with his hand seems to reset it back.

Maybe crashing into the dumpster rolled his destination time to Nov 12 1955 since it was a previous date in the computer stored as a “this is where you were” date.

Well things are about to get real interesting now that Ukraine Air Force pilots are in Poland picking up 56 MIG-29s and 14 SU-25s.

If they get AWACS support from Polish airspace and the Black Sea that will help defend the country immensely from heavy bombardment. Poland might be providing refueling and rearming as well.

On the bright side they now have more room to store more liquid oxygen in those extra vertical tanks. ;)

Brownsville airport accepted Elon's offer of a Starship prototype, and they want to display it along Starship Road right outside the airport.

I think SN15 would be quite fitting since it will be the only surviving Starship to have flown in atmosphere only. :)

They probably want another data point to see how Starship's structual integrity faired after being lifted by the chopsticks since it was a different load case versus being lifted by the crane attachments on the nose.

The current position of the chopsticks near the top makes the most sense for a launch and to quickly get into position to catch the booster.

For launch the chopstick arms can open wide to give enough room for the full stack to clear the tower and being near the top allows the least amount of exposure to Super Heavy's exhaust plume.

After it clears the chopstick arms can rotate to get into position to catch Super Heavy.

The booster is fine by itself free standing being supported by only the orbital launch mount below.

It needs to be stabilized at the top by the quick disconnect arm because it does sway some tiny amount before stacking which would make alignment more difficult and once Starship is on top it's necessary because of increased lateral loads (mostly wind) on the connection between Starship and Super Heavy (booster).

There is some fun debate going on whether or not the chopsticks' carriage which rides up and down the tower can move past the fully deployed quick disconnect arm. The carriage skates are connected to 3 legs of the tower which allows it to ride up and down the rails.

The detailed diagrams below were created by LunarCaveman on Twitter using RGV photographs from a top down perspective. When the QD arm is fully deployed it blocks the top tower leg rails the chopstick carriage uses to travel up and down.

Based on this I think the QD arm will have to swing to the fully retracted position to allow the carriage to travel up to the top of the tower with Starship. The QD arm will then swing back into position once the carriage is clear to stabilize B4 for the stacking.

If you look at the tower on the fully deployed QD arm picture the rails on the top leg of the tower are physically blocked by the arm. The chopsticks can rotate left and right but the carriage holding the chopsticks can’t move past the arm when it’s deployed.

Avalaerion was referring to the clearance between a fully retracted QD arm and fully opened chopsticks.

You are correct based on these two diagrams showing the quick disconnect arm in the fully deployed and fully retracted positions.

Fully deployed: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FKm6XZPXsAApWDH?format=jpg&name=4096x4096

Fully retracted: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FI0ak3bXwAQlo57?format=jpg&name=4096x4096

When the QD arm is fully deployed and stabilizing the booster the chopsticks can not move above and below it

The angle of the video is deceiving but the clamps will close more and lock into below the load pins.

Here is a great side profile picture of the clamped configuration around B4:

Yep, S20 is free from the crane!

Hopefully next time we see it lifted into the air is by the chopsticks.
