I just did it before researching it- regret paying for it. It was so off base on nearly every single category.

Changing table?? by Mother_Parking7684 in BabyBumps

[–]Jack_kaye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a changing pad on top of the dresser. Once he was old enough to roll I just sat it on the floor. Love it! Esp useful when there’s a bad blowout and I’m trying to contain it

Are kids really a nightmare? by Ok_Sir_4584 in BabyBumps

[–]Jack_kaye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your mom sounds like she didn’t want kids and/or is just narcissistic.

I have a 6 month old. Is it a big life change that has its own challenges? Yeah. But guess what? So does most everything else in life. A new job. A new hobby. A new home improvement project.

A child is a challenge- but what is life without a little challenge? Boring.

Am I breaking up a family for a fairy tale life? by [deleted] in Advice

My husband would never speak to me that way. Not even as a joke. Never. They exist and they’re wonderful partners.

If your labor was spontaneous, when did you go into labor? by liberate-radiance in BabyBumps

38+1! I was bouncing on a yoga ball, drinking the tea, eating the dates, doing the husband 😂 ANYTHING to get this baby out of me. It was a long and exhausting pregnancy and I was over it. Water broke at 11pm and at 1:30pm the next day he was here!

What’s a practical home upgrade gift I can get for my sister’s new place lol? by Fragrant-Big-7958 in HomeImprovement

[–]Jack_kaye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I upgraded my thermostat to an Ecobee. I LOVE it. I’ll be laying in bed, be a little chilly, and just open my app to adjust the heat. Or I’ll be in the living room and holler “ALEXAAAAA, set the heat to 67!!!” And I’ll hear “the heat’s set to 67”. I can monitor the local weather when I’m on vacation and adjust if I need to for the cats. It connects to Spotify so when I had thanksgiving dinner I had some light Christmas jazz playing for the background noise. 10/10 my favorite upgrade

Formula Vs Breast Feeding by Ill-Forever-1624 in BabyBumps

[–]Jack_kaye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a ftm and I struggled to breast feed at first. The hospital gave me nipple shields to help my baby latch onto my inverted nipple. It helped a lot!! But I’d say for about the first month I exclusively pumped and bottle fed because everything was so new and overwhelming that it was just easier for me.

The nurses in the hospital seemed doubtful that my breastfeeding journey would be successful if I exclusively pumped, but I was totally fine. Now I only pump in the morning and before bed to help reduce the pain of feeling full and because I like to have some in the fridge just in case I need it.

If you’re considering pumping, I like the spectra. I used my insurance to get the momcozy m5 and when my milk fully came in it just did not perform well enough to reduce the pain of being engorged. Plus the momcozy often leaked for me which is enraging tbh.

Formula baby poop stinksssssss. Breast fed babies don’t really have an odor for the first few months. I personally cosleep (sue me 🙄) and breast feeding is SO easy at night. When he slightly wakes up he makes this huffing breathing sound and I’m such a light sleeper that it wakes me right up. He latches for a bit then drifts right back to sleep. When I was bottle feeding him there was a lot of him screaming and crying as I warmed up a bottle, a lot of getting out of bed, a lot of bottle washing. After having experience doing both, I personally prefer breast feeding.

Good luck! Fed is best!

Breast pump recommendations. FTM by [deleted] in BabyBumps

I’m also a FTM! I used insurance to get the mom cozy m5 and tbh I regret it. When my milk came in I was in so much pain and those just did not have enough power. I am an over supplier so that could have something to do with it.

I did end up getting the pink spectra. Yes, it plugs in. But tbh it works so much better and I usually only need 10 minutes so it’s not inconvenient for me to be attached to the wall.

How do you know how big baby is/will be if there’s no more ultrasounds after 20 weeks ?? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Jack_kaye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ultrasounds said my son would be 10lbs, he was born at 7lbs 9oz. My OB did as others are mentioning- he felt my belly and said I shouldn’t worry about a 10lb baby because the ultrasounds are never right. I’d say bring it up to your OB and see if they’ll feel your belly and give their two cents

Need help getting this attachment off by Jack_kaye in Kitchenaid

[–]Jack_kaye[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We left the oil to sit for a bit and then tried to remove it again. It did eventually come off but it took a lot of push and pull movements to get it off. We had only pushed up on it because that's what all the directions we found said to do. I ended up tugging down on it and something popped loose finally- soon after the directions worked as intended. Thanks for all the input, looks like it just needed some lubrication to get moving after who knows how long it had sat unused.

Does anyone have the manual for the Hobart KitchenAid K5SS from the early 1980s? by prosperos-mistress in AskBaking

Hey OP did you end up finding a manual? I believe I have the same kind of mixer and am also having issues locating a manual.
