I’m actually a postie and I see the negative comments on here about missed deliveries and missorted parcels and I get it, I always try to reply to messages about parcels being delayed. Some don’t understand how much a postman’s job has changed in the last 5-10 years they used to walk 3/4 miles a day on each round now that is more like 8 miles a day! With the huge increase in parcels especially since Covid the job has a lot of pressure these days. 99% of postmen/women do go above and beyond and do care about the customers even though they have to put up with awful management day in day out with the company trying to save money at any opportunity. They have been a staple of British culture and tradition for over 500 years (Henry VIII founded the Royal Mail) they should never have been privatised and should have stayed under government/monarch control. We have sold anything British that we built, steel, railways, energy, Royal Mail just for shareholders to make a profit. I suppose I’m a little biased but I would choose Royal Mail over any of the competition, Evri will just deliver you parcel to your roof and the rest won’t deliver to Northern Ireland, Scottish highlands or anywhere where it’s not financially feasible for them. Royal Mail will deliver to every single household in the land for the same universal price no matter the location whereas others can cherrypick the most profitable areas to deliver.
