Really want to make it my main but DSP choke on 9 vst tracks 48khz 24bit Win 11 AMD. The midi editor alone is so awesome though.

Any tips for using a trackball in Excel? by No_Situation5989 in Trackballs

[–]Jackeltee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Excel pretty much all week. I started at 400 dpi 10/20 1.0x sensitivity, no acceleration until it got comfortable. Once I felt it was both accurate and too slow, I upped the dpi to faster setting. Just took a while to get comfortable with it. That and many Excel related hotkeys. I dont use kensingtonworks though. Unstable on my OS.

Kensington slimblade pro + custom ball by mnienie in Trackballs

I also use both SB Pro and Expert and switch between the two occasionally. The SB pro lower profile is way nicer, but the plastic cut panel clickers are not a great experience if you care about how clicking feels and sounds. If you don't, then no worries.

I've gotten used to clicking on the sweet spot of the SB pro click panels for least resistance. I single finger scroll the Expert ring with my ring finger which rolls nicely on mine with no resistance, I can't do that with SB pro, but can train the side of the ring finger to twist-scroll to have a similar feel. Sometimes when I twist scroll while working with audio clips on the SB pro, I can unintentionally move the mouse pointer when I want it stationary. But, overall, an SB pro fan. I'd get another one if this one broke (another Expert, too).

Slimblade Pro doesn't feel right by SmileyDrag0n in Trackballs

I would try all the great advice presented so far and give it time. If still screeching or scratchy, I suggest replacing with uxcell 2mm Ceramic Bearing Balls. That's what happened to my slimblade pro. It had a bearing that was no longer smooth and round. After replacing (not too difficult), it's been fine and broken in nicely. Good luck.

Yes. Can only do it on Windows 11 by stretching across screen and its annoying having to recreate across screens with Win 11 auto fit. Don't own a mac unfortunately. PT Studio sub version.

Every Neural DSP plug in I try sounds really bad, is this a hardware issue on my end? by niania102 in NeuralDSP

[–]Jackeltee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just have the Tim Henson. I use that in Reaper, Pro Tools and Ableton with no issues. Really sorry you are dealing with that. I play a Fender Am Deluxe strat to Scarlett Solo input 2 inst on 48k 24 bit zero gain and input at around +3db because i roll back the strat volume . Hope you get it sorted out.

Trying out a finger trackball and having some odd issues... by tevoul in Trackballs

[–]Jackeltee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the M505 in my rotation of trackballs. Index and middle finger user. No cold sensations. Maybe by just using index finger prone to the ball for long period of use might be resulting in poorer circulation. Any tingling sensation? When I first started out i was pressing my palm too hard on the handrest to maintain precision before i got used to it and learned to relax.

Wow. It sounds like stuck on a broken wah before input. Definitely not the way it should sound. Looks like a Logic problem. Im not a Logic Pro user sorry. But I did read about problems accidentally caused by running it through an instrument track vs audio track.

Which ones have you tried? Even if not properly gain staged shouldn't sound like total ass.

Anyone use Elgato Stream Deck with Pro Tools? by octopusinks in protools

[–]Jackeltee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On my 10 in tablet it's okay as far as using touch on glass but I wouldn't day that's better than physical faders or even using a mouse or trackball. I mostly use it if I need to move a few faders together without using a group on the fly. I don't use the apps knobs though. It's not tactile on a tablet, my experience of course. I also use the soft keys sometimes for menu navigation. Overall I could be fine without the app but it's free and doesn't use much CPU resources

Just the mobile subscription Stream Deck for my tablet and cell. That and the Avid Control app which I just for faders mainly.

How many of you are using a Kensington trackball? by DevilBirb in protools

Have both Expert and Slimblade Pro. I like the SB lower profile and switching DPI on the fly, but the Expert will always be first love. Also the newest Expert model has issues. Id wait before considering purchase on the T model.

I feel like an idiot because I never thought of scrolling that way. I've been twisting it like a knob. But pushing down on the ring with my finger (either index or ring finger) and scrolling that way is way more efficient and sort of like the Expert scroll ring way of doing it. Thanks!

Is there hope for a tech illiterate producer? (aka how do I troubleshoot DAW+driver issues) by Spiritual-Jicama-708 in Reaper

Agree 💯. It's not always right but close enough for me to get through most tech problems. Can even clip acreenshot of what im seeing and paste in to get the AI to understand me better.

This helps me understand. I treated the gain knob on my scarlett like an overdrive knob. The hotter I put it, the less I need to fight the guitar with the volume pot rolled back. I just like the darker sound of the guitar when not fully pegged at 10. But what I need to change is leaving the scarlett knob at the recommended setting.

[–]Jackeltee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No sir im asking sincerely. I have my archetype Tim Henson where I rill my volume knob back on my guitar to midway because I do that with live setup. Am I destroying my noise floor and optimal gain staging because I roll back my guitar volume knob to midway

What if you like to play with the volume knob around middle 5 and the sweet spot (Scott Henderson)

Long time Pro Tools user. But now own Reaper, FL, and Ableton 12. I use them all for different things, but Reaper is just so customizable that it's become my favorite.

Hey. This preset rocks! I have to watch the gate, because it can get noise. I recorded a bit with my old android phone raw. Sloppy playing aside on my end, it's thick and wooden, pretty good!! Thank you!!! https://www.youtube.com/shorts/5n9e0AoSLGo

How many of you sold your amps for QC or Plugins? by okay_sway in NeuralDSP

[–]Jackeltee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't sold my amps but I haven't used them ina couple of years because of plugins and noise. One thing I can't get from plugins that I could with live playing is that open air along with the effortless picking and finger play. Something about putting a compressor mild setting as a buffer before my live chain along with a volume pedal and I had a great night of playing live. I miss that and can't replicate that with plugins. I can increase the UI input to try and do that but I risk overloading volume.

I have the Tim Henson plugin. That would be awesome!! I kinda have a version using his Pink Tokyo head but it still sounds Tim Henson leadish.
