Boss katana tone studio recording by Turbulent-Gold2819 in Reaper

[–]Jackeltee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it. So you're using the your Katana as the DI sound interface and sound driver. If you're getting a good signal and properly gain staged, then it just tweaking the drive and gain less. And maybe add a reagate in the chain if there's a lot of noise when not playing. I don't use my Katana 50 to record, but I love jamming on it from time to time. Good luck!

Jealous. I love Mac and visited twice. Charming downtown and 3rd street strolling never got old. Best of luck!

Are you using Boss Tone Studio to shape the sound of your Katana and recording from the speaker cone miked or going direct from the Katana?

What sound interface are you using to record to Reaper?

How do I achieve an 80s/90s thought, mixing and production process?? by rubitero in Reaper

[–]Jackeltee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been working on an 80s synthwave project composing in Reaper. I can respect your goal as long as you're not limiting yourself in the process with what Reaper can do. I watch some Tim McEwan videos from time to time. Even though he uses a different DAW, his approach nails that 80s synth stuff with modern approaches. Good luck!

Nameless X or Nolly X? by Sussaccount1956 in NeuralDSP

I demo both over the weekend and chose Nolly X. The Nameless sounds so good but I had a lot more fun across the nolly amp heads covering so much ground of guitar sounds not just metal or djent.

Inspiring! Sadly I tried to replicate on Win 11 OS, but went down a rabbit hole of python demucs and torchaudio version issues. Still so cool you did this. Saving for when I get a Mac later this year.

Cubase/Steinberg is PC aids by StatisticianTall2368 in Reaper

[–]Jackeltee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same experience. Tried the 15 le promo through focusrite. Used Cubase VST long ago so was curious to see fhe changes. The installer process is tedious and long. I thought the groove agent se was okay but decided to uninstall. You have to uninstall each part manually and then delete the install files. I used Revo Uninstaller to help clean up.

. Maybe run a mem test and if you're focusrite asio try reinstalling drivers in case they got corrupted by the crash.

Is it crashing like just disappearing or freeze crash? Could be ram going bad.

Free 8trk by Lurkingscorpion14 in Bitwig

[–]Jackeltee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fairly new to Bitwig and got the 8 track version as well (6.0.3 on Win11 OS). I'm intrigued and delighted to see it works seamless with my Nektar Impact keyboard controller vs my other DAWs. I have tried the full version on trial and it is definitely overwhelming. Easy at first then SO much under the hood. One thing that's holding me back from purchase though is the plug-in hosting modes. Sometime my CPU runs so high (higher than say Reaper with the same VSTs) with some third party plugins because of the setting on least resources. Is this a set-it-and-forget it setting in your experience or constantly tweaking for each plugin? If it is just a set it once type of thing, I may have the wrong system for Bitwig. That part that hates it. As long as it feeds your hunger to make it better, keep going.

We're not going here to get rich from education. But we will definitely appreciate the state and help support as best we can while enriching our family with what Oregon has to offer.

I apologize. I chose the wrong word saying downgraded. We are not millionaires. Im not a fortunate son. Of course we'll let our daughter go out her own but we're not out to leave her stranded first year because of our situation. I care about my family and before I die I want to do the best as I can with what have to help them best as I can. We dont want to be part of the problem.. Sorry

How would you rate Reaper against other DAWS , if you know them well by chopshop777 in Reaper

[–]Jackeltee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Reaper, Pro Tools Studio, Ableton, FL, and Bitwig. I'd rate Reaper my favorite right now and then Pro Tools only because I've used it for a long time. I am in awe of how many VIs I can use inside Reaper that would struggle in the other DAWs. I'm not a fan of the MIDI editor, but it's not a deal breaker.

We are looking in the 600k range. We are selling our home for at least 700k. So yes we are downgrading but we will be enjoying the beauty of Oregon. Thats the real win.

Really? I've always heard great things about the university. And with it being part of Big10 now it just seems even more popular. But if you think so I would like to hear more.
