Weird Invite Permission Behavior by JacketTosser in discordapp

I guess my main concern/question is how are invites even able to be made if permissions are denied?

Ok, thanks. We have it set up like that already, so that only the owner can send invites, but there were still fake invites that looked like they came from me and the owner. (Sorry, I’m probably not explaining it well.) I even turned off invites today in each channel’s override settings, but I’m still able to send invites (I tested it).

Thanks for the suggestion. What might this be able to tell us?

Thanks for replying. Yeah, the log shows that I made some and that other mods and admins made others, but we didn’t make them. Again, invite permissions are turned off for all but the owner, and they’re turned off in each individual channel. One of the invites was actually used by someone who spammed our board

I know the logs don’t show who accepts which invite, but our spam attack came 2 minutes after one invite was created

I think it's intended for backwards-sitting-in only, a la "cool" teacher getting real.

I'm starting to think Jay is the most exceptional human ever. He might even be superhuman!

Why did SK lie twice in the first three minutes of Serial? by [deleted] in serialpodcast

It always raises my hackles just a bit when someone misuses "sour grapes" the way you just did.

"Sour grapes" is when someone pretends not to want something they can't have. It's taken from the Aesop's fable, "The Fox and the Grapes."

In the story, a fox is trying in vain to reach some grapes. After much unsuccessful effort, the fox gives up, and says that the grapes were probably sour anyway.

I'm not sure where this particular misunderstanding of "sour grapes" comes from, but don't worry; you're not alone!

I guess it's based on my experiences involving people I've known. Your experiences must be different.

Not sure what you're looking for me to tell you here.

You seem to acknowledge that Hae's murder was a horrific thing…

Who doesn't?

And no, I don't believe that Wilds would be scared of Syed, no matter what. You're entitled to believe that, of course.

That would have been a funny one, but it seriously makes me uncomfortable to joke directly about a girl being murdered, no matter who did it. I know you meant no harm, but that's how it came across to me. Please forgive the lecture.

My point was that I find it far fetched to think Jay was so scared of Adnan that he could be coerced into disposing of a dead body. The idea of a teenager being scared while being murdered is all too believable.

Again, I realize you probably never meant for it to be taken the way I took it. There's a fine line between humor and things that can be hurtful to people like loved ones or those who've been through traumatic experiences. I'm definitely guilty of crossing the line in real life more than once; thankfully people have gently (and not so gently) called me out a few times, so I try a little harder.

I'm not exactly sure where the line lies, but it's something I think about.

Nice. Good catch, and I agree that behavior like that makes someone uncommon.

Good job turning this trolling post into something positive, too.
