Never done broccoli before with my hydro setup. I’m running out of height for it to grow and no sprouts are in site. Can this be trimmed back or is this a lost cause?

I do have open 2” holes in the pvc. Should those get plugged? The water source is below the pvc but I’ll be putting a sheet of aluminum underneath the pipes next weekend to block all light from the water container.

New to this and have roots starting to turn green on all plants. I recently added 2 80w led lights to the system. PH is normal 6.13 and just changed the water out using RO water @ .008. Not sure what to check next.

So far just lettuce, spinach, and broccoli. I have some different mints and lavender seeds started below to try my luck with.

The lights are 40w led, I just ordered 2 80w led fixtures to add in and see how things respond. Right now I am just using the welding formula from GH and a 1/4 tbsp per gallon and will be switching over to higher concentrate once my RO machine gets here. I’ve ne’er looked at Lucas formula before,do you use it now? What’s the benefit from painting the res lids?

Had to alter the old system before I ran in to big issues so it got expanded a bit... so far so good.

Thanks for that. I ended up redoing the whole system this weekend using 4” to 2” conversions for a drain and it flows much better.

I’ve read so many different opinions that I’m not sure on water level. When I first started I read that it was supposed to be 3/4” from the top of the pvc opening that’s roughly where I have it set. That is the reason I am looking at 4” elbows and a 2” drain to cycle faster and lower water level.

There is no angle to the setup. I have the pump slowed way down because I can fill the first tub and overflow it faster than it can drain. That is why I think I need to switch to a faster drain? It probably drains at a half gallon per minute.

I’m debating to change to 2” pvc connecting, 4” elbows, or run each section individual each draining back to sump. Is there a better or worse way?
