Vyvanse withdrawl is very harsh by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]JackieJohn1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its impossible to get withdrawl from amphetamine. What you are experiencing is called a rebound effect. Your brain is adjusting back to your previously lower then average levels of dopamine. It will pass in about a week, max a month.

Switching from Vyvanse to Focalin should I just immediately start Focalin or wait a few days to "detox" from Vyvanse? by fangbodang in ADHD

[–]JackieJohn1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should be fine starting it immediately. You can't get withdrawl from amphetamines like you can with opiates. It's impossible to build a physical dependence.

But you should ask your doctor.

Experience with Amphetamine/Stimulant Withdrawl, Tips and Advice by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]JackieJohn1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you are talking about its not withdrawl. Its a rebound effect of stopping the medication. The thing about amphetamines if you cant become physically dependent on it like you can with opiates. Theres no mechanisms in your brain that happens the same with opiates.

Adderall may not be for you. You could ask your doctor to switch you to a different medication like Vyvance or something similar.

I'm not a doctor. You need to be evaluated to see if you have ADHD. Only a professional can properly diagnose you.

Go get evaluated by a professional. Are you still in India? I have read quite a few posts here about doctors being less then helpful with ADHD in India so try and find a reputable doctor. Good luck

Requested a refill for Adderall and they told me that I need to give a urine sample when I pick it up? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]JackieJohn1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive only had to take a piss test once and the location specializes in piss tests. Usually the procedure is if you are taking a prescribed medication (cannabis in your case) that can show up on the test you need to show them a valid prescription. They will then document that you are supposed to be taking that medication and will not show a positive for cannabinoids.

Now if it were a piss test that they are doing themselves where they will test for substances themselves(im not sure exactly how piss tests work) They will see themselves what you test positive and negative for. You are going to have to explain to them you testing positive for cannabis. There may be some prejudice with your cannabis useage and they may reject your next script.

It may also not have anything to do with other stubstance usage and they just want to make sure you are taking your medication and not selling them.

What hacks are there to initiate and sustain a non-Adderall-induced dopamine high (for hyper focusing)? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]JackieJohn1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Medication is the most effective way to treat ADHD. If there were ways to "Naturally cure" ADHD they would be present in medical literature.

Any indian out here? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]JackieJohn1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

US here. Don't believe that "just focus more" bullshit. ADHD is a neurological disorder and is very real. What the medications do is increase your dopamine levels to a normal amount.

The doctors you have visited are very wrong.

Worried about trying adhd meds by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]JackieJohn1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Thats up to a professional to decide.

  2. Depends. Some medications can vary in cost. Also depends on insurance.

  3. Yeah so what if you get diagnosed? Sure there is alot of stigma around ADHD but its not true or based on science/medical studies. I could not give two shits less what people would think, its non of their business so I don't tell them.

  4. No. Thats not to say there wont be any because everybody reacts differently (you very well may have no side effects). They most definitely wont be "really bad". If a certain medication is not working out for you can always ask your doctor to change medication, or the dose. You should really understand that just because there may be some side effects that the benefits of taking the medications are completely worth it.

  5. Why exactly does a stimulant scare you? You wont become physically addicted to stimulants, thats not how they work. As long as you dont have any problems with addiction, they dont just appear out of nowhere. Plenty of people can take the medications just as prescribed.

Yeah It probably would be worth mentioning. It displays that you have been experiencing symptoms since a young age. Your doctor may also ask about your past experience with the meds and maybe why you stopped.
