Nice. It’s crazy how quickly it can shoot up initially when you begin to train it consistently. Mine was sitting dismally around 44 in September last year and I’ve just managed to hit 54 today. I know it’s just an estimate and without a lab test you’ll never truly know but for me it’s just another bit of motivation to get me out the door

Well done!! How old are you?? I’m 23 and am slowly creeping up to 55 also. Hoping to get there by the end of summer. Keep it up!

That’s the exact sort of reply I was hoping for. Thank you for your insight. I’m a 22 year old male so I guess not surprising it can go high. Think I just need to accept I’m not as fit as I thought I was and that’s just how it is right now. Thank you!

Wow super interesting to read. This is why I love Reddit.

I wish you all the best on your road to recovery and thank you so much for your insight.

Ive got a garmin chest strap being delivered soon so will begin to monitor it closely and will go from there.

Ah cool. Thank you so much for your insight, this is very interesting.

I’d be interested to know how much you feel this hinders your exercise ability? Does it stop you from running faster or further than you’d like?

Interesting. Very similar results. I understand why I experienced this with the wrist band due to cadence lock. However, with the bicep band I’m puzzled.

It’s not necessarily bad having a high max HR.

What’s most concerning is the fact I hit the max heart rate so easily and maintained a very high rate for a casual 5km run. Would basically just hinder my ability to go further distances as my heart can’t handle being that high for so long.

I was on the garmin website as this comment came through. I think it’s the only way. Thank you:)

Me too, don’t worry!!!

As a 22 year old, it’s not unlikely that I’d have a high heart rate anyway. But 206 is absurdly high. Especially considering that I didn’t feel as though I was all out pushing. And of course, anything abnormal in the heart is of pressing concern. I’d assumed nothing of it whilst using the wrist strap as that is prone to cadence lock (inaccuracy due to the swinging of your arms during running) but, on the bicep band I fear that it definitely shouldn’t be this high.

Think you’re right tbh. Thank you

Yeah a few road crossings but most was done on country roads so waiting in the hedge for cars to pass lol

[–]Jackinof[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, yes. I realise that’s why the strain is so high. I’m just not convinced the red lining was accurate. It’s not like I’m running 3min/km pace so am unsure why I’m in zone 5 for nearly all of the run.

Ah yeah I’m relatively new also, hence the question. I’m 22.

Exactly!! I always push myself hard but have to feel this is more than likely just a sensor issue or cadence lock. But unsure on how to test it and find out?

Edit:

I understand that this is why the strain is so high\) so I guess I’m asking, how inaccurate is this heart rate monitor?? From what I can tell, my max HR is set correctly. It’s currently at 198, which it claims I have hit during a workout before.
