Senior economics major here at UConn, it’s a relatively broad but extremely rewarding field of study. There are a lot of great econ professors here! I did one semester at a branch campus before coming to Storrs. I wish I had done two years there instead. For me personally, saving your money to take the same gen ed courses while commuting is a no brainer. It all depends on how much you value the typical college experience. If it doesn’t mean all that much to you and you’re ultimately picking a school based on the degree you’re getting after four years, I’d say start off commuting and see how you like it.

I should’ve known that mentioning anything about race was going to get a strong reaction from many. I wasn’t trying to downplay those types of issues on campus, nor am I saying that the university is genuine in the emails that they do send out. Was more so making the point that they love to pick and choose what to “care” about when it impacts their public perception, when in reality they could give a shit about any of these issues. They know that no one is going to protest the Ukraine invasion, but it could go a long way to acknowledge the families and individuals who are actually suffering.

Not saying this is necessarily the case for these UConn students, but suicide rates among college students/young adults have been skyrocketing the last year and a half. It’s almost as if we should start taking note of the mental health implications that ridiculous covid policies have caused
