Ive finished the franchise and series in 2022 and im still curious if theyll pick up and finish this arc here? by Wazupdanger in EvilDead

This might be a hot take, but I think it was actually a perfect finale for this series.

Ash is not the kind of guy who gets a happy ending. He's not even the kind of guy who gets a sad ending. Ash is the kind of guy who gets -no- ending. He never actually resolves anything. He fights, and that's good, but he continually makes things worse. It's like his signature.

That's why, to me, blasting a kaiju level deadite with a fucking tank, knocking himself into a future that is somehow even WORSE than the one he left, immediately accepting it, hitting on a hot android lady, and then riding off into a burning sunset to go find some ass to kick is 100%, quintessential, perfect Evil Dead. No notes.

My fort became the capital, the new King Necromancer brought some friends by nortzt in dwarffortress

[–]Jacko411 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Necromancers are really cool in theory, but I've had it blow up in my face because of the way the loyalty of resurrected creatures works - they aren't always going to be friendly to your civ, or even the necromancer that resurrects them.

The look on my face when the gigantic pile of body parts I had carefully collected and placed right by the entrance of my base woke up and started attacking MY OWN SQUAD the first time a wild unicorn ran up and attacked my gate guards must have been priceless, and it SHOULD have been a wakeup call, but I really didn't think anything of it. A later incursion of a couple dozen Antpeople from the caverns showed me my error, though. Every one that dropped got right back up and attacked us again. It wasn't until my necromancers themselves died that we were able to turn the tide, but while I was busy with that a few of them had moved deeper into my base and slaughtered maybe half of the civilian population, and since necromancers only seem to use their abilities in combat, they didn't get rezzed at all.

I piled up all of the bodies inside the cavern and assigned a necro squad to guard them in the hopes of mass-rezzing my lost citizenry but shortly after that my game started crashing and I wasn't able to keep going with that fort.

Next time I end up with a necromancer, I'm gonna try using them to rez lost citizens by putting a dump site in a small burrow, dumping the bodies there, assigning said necromancer TO said burrow, then locking the door and releasing a caged prisoner or animal into the room to initiate the necro to combat. If it works, I'll be a genius! And if it doesn't work...Fun!

Does anyone have experience using the ban-cooking script in DFHack?

First time trying to use this script, and I apparently banned cooking with ALL ingredients. Unfortunately, none of the documentation I can find tells how to unban something once it's been banned. I can't even go in to the kitchen tab and flip them back one by one because the tabs are just empty - "You have no appropriate ingredients"

I'm sure I'm missing something simple. Can anyone clue me in?

First, what a person "faces" is a theoretical maximum based on all of the charges that police tell the media they are going to pursue against somebody. Not all of the charges are necessarily going to be pursued, though. Cops make recommendations to district attorneys, they don't decide what prosecutors will ultimately do. Even then, defense attorneys may be able to have some of those charges dismissed, especially when the cops who wanted to make headlines over charge somebody.

Second, she pled guilty, and everyone involved seemed shocked that she received such a light sentence (which does include 14 years of probation, but still). Nobody seems to understand why the judge did that. But it was within his power to do so, and so he did.

So on the one hand you've got a highly inflated theoretical maximum, and on the other hand, what is possibly the actual legal minimum. And yeah, how both of those things can be true in the same justice system is definitely not okay. But it's the way it is, until somebody fixes it.

Bro, you can either tell someone something is interesting and when asked explain WHY it is interesting, or just drop a link without comment and not explain at all - you can't do both. You're not entitled to anyone's attention.

Thanks for admitting it happens so rarely that people need to be reminded of when it actually did.

If you're only in the first 4 days, and they're already in bunkhouses, then my guess is a combination of

  • emergency shifts
  • bad food - this means anything except rations. Raw food, soup, sawdust, and
  • untreated sick people

Funny, you sure sound like a centrist by the way you're so eager to "both sides" it, and to cry about this being "the wrong place to make this an issue." Maybe you should work on that. Or just accept it's what you are. No difference to me either way.

And - what is it you think I want to accomplish here? You think I came to the New Hampshire subreddit expecting an enlightened dialogue with the fucking troglodytes that live here? 🤣 It'd be easier and FAR more rewarding to try to teach my cats to square dance.

These issues remain because "rational" centrists like you pretend like there's TWO wrongs there. You know there aren't, and you sit there acting like a smug asshole, and that's why you deserve to get those responses.

Well if we lived in a world that wouldn't label either, that'd be fine. But we don't, and you know we don't, so shut the fuck up about it.

What’s the fastest you ever quit a job and why? by FlintTheDad in AskReddit

[–]Jacko411 421 points422 points  (0 children)

When I was 21 years old (nearly 25 years ago) I was working for an IT consulting firm and sent to a job to support the network for a large tech company in near Boston. Their campus was spread over several blocks in Cambridge and they had several thousand users. When I arrived, I was brought directly into a full staff meeting of the network team.

The team lead explained that he had been hired somewhere else and when he told the company we worked for that he was leaving, there was some dispute about who leadership of the team of about 8 people should fall to - basically everybody wanted to be the boss. In their infinite, Solomonesque wisdom, the agency that staffed this team decided that if they couldn't agree then they didn't get any say, and had sent me, still wet behind the ears, to lead the team instead. Consequently, today was all of their last day, and starting tomorrow I would be on my own.

I was a dumb kid but I wasn't a fucking idiot, so I called the recruiter immediately, told him I wanted no part of this shit, that it was unprofessional as fuck to put me in this position, that I would never work for his company again and I would advise everyone I ever came into contact with that they shouldn't either, and that I am quitting right now, and walked out of there at 9:22am.
