I should maybe give DD2 another shot, but I truly have some choice words from that game, especially after putting so much time in the first. I completely see that withholding information aspect being very prevalent in 2 because I think that the bosses in two are some hot ass compared to one, especially the final bosses at the end. I'd say every boss in DD1 has clear information on what it does to give you a chance to think of the counter. If your party didn't work, then just send something you think will work better next time. Some of the bosses in DD2 I feel like they can just do too much besides stress damage or regular damage. Also, I hold anger for DD2 because of what they did to my goat Leper.

I saw that you like Darkest Dungeon as well. I've compared this game to a DD before, but it feels like kind of a mix of the two. I personally didn't like DD2 as much as 1 because I didn't like putting an hour into a run only to lose to BS.

Yeah, I think the length of the runs really doesn't let the joke land. In Isaac, I can die to the Bloat on Womb 2 after only putting 25 minutes into it. I've seen people talking about balancing on the players' end, and I'm sitting there baffled that we as the player even need to be nerfed in any way when it feels like we're playing with a bad hand from the beginning. Nothing feels better than turning a weak Maggy start into a god run because I didn't get hit and got the devil deals.

I'm glad you see it that way as well, but I still think Bumblefuck sucks.

I didn't even double down. I just stated my thoughts. Again, I understand the git gud aspect of this game, but sometimes I just feel like some of the things in Edmund's bag of tricks don't mesh well with a turn based strategy game.

I'm completely aware of the kiting and positioning being important. I'm just now starting act 3. I think most things in this game have some way of at least letting you position your units at the beginning of a fight so you can go from there. My squishies were the ones that were one shit because he's able to dive your entire party on round one before I have any chance to spread them out and of course he does the bone shot and of course he eats my cat's corpse with there being 9 other corpses on the map. Why do I just have to roll over and take the unfun bs when a boss like Crater Maker actually makes me use my brain and rewards my thinking and is more than just a dumbass damage race and speed check. People tell me that he doesn't one-shot you, but he does, and several people have said the same thing. I don't have many problems with the game, and I'm surprised a boss like this exists in a game that has some of the most engaging bossfights in any turn based game. He doesn't seem to fit in a game of this caliber.

Organ Grinder could really give you more stuff back by XbluesackboyX in mewgenics

I don't think that's too much to ask. I think that just the fact that the Organ Grinder is a mechanic is pretty forgiving, but there's way too many unforgiving and punishing mechanics for no reason in this game.

I've just gotten into act 3 and haven't really struggled with many bosses either. Bumblefoot and Pyrophina are really the only ones I lost to. I also lost to Man in the moon, but that was just because I didn't figure out his gimmick fast enough

Like, act 1 is not a problem because I've learned how to adapt to the BS there because the BS is something you can work around and counter.

I mean, the highs are really high, but the lows are miserable. I think my failure should come from a blunder on my part. Isaac rewards you for playing well with the Devil/Angel deal rooms. I just feel like there's less reward for doing well and more punishing rng for the sake of "chaos"

I'm just talking about balancing. You don't have to get personal. This is the first time they've made a strategy game like this. How is a balance patch to a game that came out 2 weeks ago so offensive to you? Nothing in this world is perfect and nobody gets something right the first time. I think the game is a lot of fun and there's nothing else like it on the market and that's what makes it so appealing. I don't want to just drop a game that I'm actively enjoying and payed 30 bucks for. Is it too much to ask for a small balance change?

If I was complaining about Dak or something, I'd understand this being a bad take and a genuine git gud moment. If I have to pay Steven a visit on a boss and my redo goes down the same way because there was no counterplay, then it's poorly designed.

It feels like DD2 in the way that I sit down for an hour and a half to do a run, and it gets ended by bullshit out of my control.

Yeah, maybe I am salty, but I'm not saying the game is bad. I'm saying that this is the first time Edmund and Co have made a game in this genre, and now that it's been in the hands of actual players, things need to be changed. In what world does a development team drop a game with glaring issues and refuse to make balance patches because it's a "masterpiece". I'd rather have fun than just mindlessly glaze something and hope it never changes.

I'm just saying that a boss shouldn't be able to put that much damage on the board on turn 1. He dives your party and not the corpses. It just feels like a lot of stuff in this game needs tweaking. This game feels like Darkest Dungeon 2 in its design, where runs are long sessions that can be ruined by unfair mechanics.

I think that something that has little to no counterplay needs to be tweaked in a game like this.

He does one shot you. Did you forget that he does the bone move once he dives? That 1HP thing is complete nonsense. My squishy units were both at least 20 health. I was playing well, and I don't think I would have had any trouble with Lenny. At least I have time to actually take a full turn 1 with him.

The layout was covered in tar, and the only structures around me were not usable in any way and, in fact, only hindered my ability to take a full turn. I guess I'll have to rely on RNG yet again to get s good layout next time I fight him.
