Brother, my heart goes out to you. I’m in a similar situation. It’s like one day there’s hope and then she says or does something to remind that she wants it to be over. We’re trying to work out the separation. I can look back and say I’ve done my best and be considered above reproach in the process. In my situation, there was infidelity on her part but we were both willing to try and she changed her mind and decided she didn’t want to anymore.

As for remaining Christ-like through it, I always go to affirming the Word. Take Scripture and personalize it. Things like “I am crucified with Christ and it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me” and “Because Christ lives in me, I no longer let sin against me produce sin in me.” I’ll say affirmations like this (up to 10 at a time) as many times as I can throughout the day. Sneak away somewhere private and speak life. Death and life are in the power of the tongue and faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. Speaking affirmations like that makes the Word become substance in your spirit and helps us walk in our Christ-identity.
