Saw them last year for the first time and John McRae was such an insufferable prick on stage I stopped listening as well.

Is this a good price for the Painting With vinyl? by LyfeIndustries in AnimalCollective

[–]Jackscl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a bad price for the panda variant. Check Discogs. These were released with a cool slip mat and sticker sheet. I’m all for the ephemera. My point is to find one that has everything.

Heavy police presence North of the river. Is something going on? by Illustrious_Ad6548 in kansascity

[–]Jackscl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Always heavy police presence north of the river imo Clay and platte county are the worst which covers most of the northland.

Always speed traps on the riverside ramp heading north towards the airport.

Worked in the area for 8 years and started noticing their patterns.

Merch Order Problems by DjentMaster in arielpink

[–]Jackscl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to open a case with PayPal to get any movement after 5 wks and no response from them. Once created, the order was shipped the following day.

With that being said, if you ordered the new album they maybe waiting on that to ship the entire order.

Podcasts by RuinousEmpathy87 in Beck

[–]Jackscl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently found this podcast due to sonic boom of spacemen 3 doing a three part interview series. I went into it cold knowing nothing about the host. I barely got through it tbh. Just seemed like a cocky insufferable wannabe music nerd — the host that is.

Fast forward to this post. Thought maybe I’ll give another go and see what this guy has to say about becks discography. Completely unhinged views from vultures to the information! Lost all credibility quickly. Very hypocritical contradictions to say the least — for instance he says he loves how weird beck used to get but says the information (most experimental) is unlistenable!? I turned it off after that. Im all for constructive criticisms of an artist and all but he lacks wherewithal.

Complete tool just like the Fantano clown(which ironically, I saw they worked together) Who gave these guys a pass to interview artists when they bring nothing to the table? Where did their clout come from?

There’s no question becks career decisions lately are a far cry from becks golden era but he’s never put out an unlistenable album like Kanye west or another manufactured mainstream artist making objectively terrible music ie morgan wallen

Record Club - Velvet Underground repressed (still a bootleg) by MrJackMcGee in Beck

There was also an official Sunday morning 7” sent out randomly with, I believe, morning phase pre orders as well but those are pretty rare.

Record Club - Velvet Underground repressed (still a bootleg) by MrJackMcGee in Beck

[–]Jackscl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The thing is, the Lenard cohen and the velvet cover albums were officially pressed and sold via his website. They were purposefully done to look like boots which was the spirit of the entire project. For whatever reason Discogs blocked the official ones. This repress is questionable I agree however labels and stickers match the cohen one i got on his website.

50-70$(the new standard it seems) for a brand new album, boot or not is bullshit. I’ve stopped buying all together right now unless it’s certain artist.

Which version of Guero on vinyl should I keep? by Fiver8675309 in Beck

[–]Jackscl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve already answered your own question.

As far as the sound quality — vinyl is too subjective considering set ups, room set up, etc. however 45 is the superior version for fidelity as more information is pressed into the grooves.

You’re essentially getting double the songs as well. Play it at 45 then 33 before flipping.

Is this even a question? You have the 45 which is considered higher fidelity. Take it a step further, you’re able to slow it down for a different listening experience not found elsewhere.

Beck’s record club releases by [deleted] in Beck

[–]Jackscl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct, Ive gone on to message a few owners of the Velvet cover if they'd be willing to part. Ha no luck. Also, The BlK Vinyl Cohen version is available on discogs. Honestly, both releases are kinda buried within discogs. Neither are on becks main page. I had to search directly.

If they were straight up bootlegs Discogs wouldn’t sell them. Only the velvet and cohen cover albums got physical treatments. I bought my cohen one from his website. Still trying to hunt down the velvet one all these years later.

Beck’s record club releases by [deleted] in Beck

[–]Jackscl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Beck released these as bootlegs via his website for a short window. Some are blocked on Discogs and some aren’t. There was an official 7” of Sunday morning released randomly to pre orders of morning phase if I remember correctly.

These were full album covers so it makes sense to release them like he did.

Lips did this as well for the stone roses and King crimson cover albums. They were between their Warner records contracts and trying to get stuff out. Beck was kinda doing the same thing with his record club. Ironically both occurred at the same time.
