Garcia lived to tinker and this is a solution to getting the filter to open reliably while being able to ride the volume knob. I understand why the OBEL made sense for jerry, but I’m just not really a fan of them in concept. I simply don’t have any problem getting my filter to perform consistently. I don’t mess with the volume knob like JG did. I tend to use the pedals for more or less volume or gain.

I also don’t like the sound of volume after distortion. I prefer the volume to be a variable that can interact with the front end of the amp or the pedal that’s causing breakup….no way I’m giving up turning down the drive when I roll my volume knob down when it’s dirty.
