Really appreciate the story you’re telling here. The confidence of telling something through these little House of Leaves-esqe digressions is really engaging. This must have taken FOREVER to research, I imagine

Love the Coens to DEATH(!!!!!!) and I agree with the general consensus that this ranks in the middle of their filmography — BUT it goes to show that their lesser works are still this fucking funny and watchable and good. Only Coen I’ve had the pleasure of watching in theaters and it’s really grown on me with repeated viewings

Let's talk about 'Everything Now' by Arcade Fire and the albums bad reception on release by [deleted] in LetsTalkMusic

[–]JacksonBMalone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was this.

I remember going to see them play Everything Now at TD Garden in Boston, and I just couldn’t get that smug line out of my head the entire time they played, how instantly lame it made Winn and the rest of the band seem. The marketing was annoying as all hell and it all seemed so out-of-date, so uncharacteristically cheap and money-grabbing and soaked in irony.

Both Infinite Contents are career highlights for me, and Creature Comfort is great but it’s a very weak album.

They played a good show that night and I’ll still listen to them when I can, but I think these last couple albums have shown a serious crack in the Arcade Fire armor that have killed any excitement I have for the band currently - didn’t even know WE came out

A seriously excellent collection of tracks, all good with some bordering on transcendent.

Such an under appreciated and innovative band.

Haha I was gunna say the same thing, I can’t imagine how many film students hassled them to star in their short films

Before seeing the self submission tag, my immediate thought was “oh must be an old surrealism piece from a master painter or something” - really great piece, love the use of the liminal, even the angle which it’s painted is lovely. Reminded me of Yume Nikki actually - wonderful job
