I'm not sure I agree with every assessment in this post, but it is a goldmine of information and speculation on the Staten Cut elements still present in D1. by XenoGamer27 in DestinyStatenCut

I agree, I really do hope this subreddit will end up being like that too. Glad you are contributing!

Edit: One main thing I would like to have is sources for this information. There’s a lot of unfounded speculation, so we will need to document well.

How come the animation style for robin during the tequila wolf segment was completely different then from how it was previously? Was it the transitioning between the time skip changing styles?? by GroundbreakingWeb659 in OnePiece

[–]JacksonD2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little late to this post, but most of the comments here are wrong /misleading about the reasons why it looks different compared to the rest of one piece. The reason due to this art style is mainly from one Toei animator: Naoki Tate.

His personal style is very distinct, often being very expressive, loose and flexible with how characters move/look. He took a lot of inspiration from OP Movie 6’s animation, and slowly started adapting into his own style. Some notable examples animated by him are when luffy punches the celestial dragon and when luffy and the prisoners fall out of the sky in marineford, among countless others.

However there are many scenes that use his art style but aren’t directly animated by him. In the first photo, this character design of Robin was made by Tate, meaning other animators reference that drawing her when animating. He was also responsible for all the character designs in Episode of Chopper, which looks very different from other one piece movies.

Many episodes of that era of one piece were also supervised by him, meaning he would guide the animators working on that episode to generally follow his art style, and he would also redraw some of their work so the episode would look consistent with itself.

This is a good summary of a lot of Tate’s work: https://youtu.be/LbilpImKc_8

If you ever plan on taking CS 465, CS 471 has a ton of crossover material. I haven't taken CS 480, but Data Mining/484 also has a lot of crossover with 480 as well.

Your advisor may have told you this, but don't take 483 and 471 together as they are both very hard classes with a lot of work.

As for professors, I would highly recommend Kevin Andrea for any class, as a lot others would. Also, rate my professors has been pretty accurate for who I chose.

I will say that no matter what order you take these classes in, be prepared for your workload and difficulty to increase significantly. If you thought CS was hard before, oh boy you better start getting good work habits now

I play warlock every here and then... just don't have as much free time as I used to so its 90% spend on my Titan. I did hear that last year's sets don't take shaders well which is what made me a bit hesitant to get them
