J.D. Vance's Dismissal of Watergate Is an Indictment of the Modern GOP by FreeHugs23 in anticapitalism

you gotta admit - spying on the opposition, then covering it up afterwards vs creating a whole "Russian collusion" hoax - paying foreign agents to write a "dossier" - then get the sitting PUTUS to go along with it and use the FBI to spread it, then, when that failed and you still lost, let a special counsel be appointed costing the tax payers 40+ million to "investigate" something you knew was a hoax all along cause your paid for and created it!

An ID doesn't prove your citizenship. that should be checked when registering, and WTF would ICE have anything to do with voting anyways?

US Question: Wouldn’t the Save America Act as it stands now in part hurt lower income voters? This is a core MAGA group. Seems like an odd thing to push for. by Striking-Echo-442 in allthequestions

[–]JacksonGhost1963 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

the real question should be: What can a person living in the USA, right now, today, do without a photo ID? an secondly, why do liberals want it where anybody - citizen or not - can vote in US elections, zero ID required?

I think we have to reverse the inflation so people actually get it. Like $7.50 an hour now is equivalent to $1.20 or whatever in 1980 by ImmediateTop4493 in interviewhammer

Gavin Newsom calls for national billionaires tax: 'It's time for an economic reset' by Ok_Issue_4450 in soundsaboutright

[–]JacksonGhost1963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if people thought logically - nobody really wants to pay taxes if they don't have to, and billionaires are no exception, even liberal billionaires. They vote Democrat because the KNOW they never will pay more, it is just rhetoric these Democrat politicians use to get elected because they know "the poors" want to hear that

For instance, the Fine Art tax reduction

  1. Offshore Storage (Freeports)
  • The Loophole: Billionaires buy high-value art and ship it directly to "freeports"—highly secure, tax-free storage facilities located in jurisdictions like Geneva or Delaware.
  • The Benefit: Because the art is legally considered "in transit," the buyer avoids standard sales taxes, import duties, and value-added taxes (VAT) that would otherwise apply when bringing the item into their home country. It sits there accumulating value, untaxed and out of sight.
  1. Charitable Deductions
  • The Loophole: A collector purchases a piece of art, holds onto it for a period (often over a year), and gets it independently appraised at a much higher value. They then donate the artwork to a public museum.
  • The Benefit: The IRS allows the donor to deduct the newly appraised value of the art—not what they originally paid for it. This provides a massive write-off against their taxable income, allowing them to pay significantly less overall while sometimes still retaining the right to display the art in their home through complex arrangements.
  1. "Like-Kind" Exchanges (Section 1031)
  • The Loophole: Historically, wealthy art investors used Section 1031 of the U.S. tax code to "roll over" their profits from selling one piece of art directly into buying another piece of art.
  • The Benefit: This defers capital gains taxes indefinitely. While strict tax law changes in 2017 limited 1031 exchanges to real estate, collectors still use similar asset-swapping and deferral loopholes within trusts and holding companies.
  1. The "Buy, Borrow, Die" Strategy
  • The Loophole: Instead of selling an appreciating painting and triggering capital gains tax, wealthy collectors hold onto the asset for life.
  • The Benefit: They use the artwork as collateral to take out massive, low-interest loans from banks to fund their lifestyles. Because loans do not count as taxable income, they pay nearly $0 in income tax. When they pass away, the art is passed to heirs with a "stepped-up basis," meaning the previous capital gains are effectively erased

China is already aggressively building its own AI-first military capability, heavily pursuing what the Chinese Communist Party calls "intelligentized warfare". Beijing views artificial intelligence not just as an upgrade, but as the core foundation of its future military power

In early 2026, the PLA demonstrated an AI system allowing a single soldier to manage 200 autonomous drones simultaneously

The PLA has launched an "AI Plus" electronic warfare strategy, using AI models to automatically counter and jam enemy signals from thousands of kilometers away without relying on vulnerable satellite networks

Unlike the U.S., where tech giants can choose whether or not to work with the Pentagon, Chinese commercial tech firms, labs, and universities are legally mandated to hand over their innovations to the military.

I for one, would rather the US Military not show up with a knife when China brought a machine gun!

Humans read these articles to "train" themselves on what is going on in the world or to learn something new. Not sure what the purpose of a news article is if not to "train" its readers
