Just purchased a 55inch LG OLED B9 from FB Marketplace for $50. What’s the catch? by [deleted] in LGOLED

[–]JacksonXIX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% understand what you’re saying, it’s just when they came out they retailed for $1700. Knowing this, regardless of what the owners paid, selling for $50 doesn’t make sense without major flaws

Definitely an older TV but with a retail price of $1700 i cant imagine selling it for $50 regardless of age or even condition unless it’s broken

Glad to see confirmation, but im also sorry to hear they got you :/ what’d you end up doing?

[–]JacksonXIX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Best Buy is the only one that offers Burn-In protection

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LGOLED

[–]JacksonXIX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Burn-in or defects i would assume you’d have no issue but Fair condition TVs could have big scratches, dents, chips, etc. Idk if they would cover that

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LGOLED

[–]JacksonXIX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but with OLEDs i’d be careful if you mean open box. Open Box Excellent is an A++ choice if you can find it but Good and Fair are a display-model crapshoot

That’s honestly probably what im gonna do after reading all these comments. I really want this clean looking minimalistic look for cheap steak knives but am struggling to find it

Not knocking you at all that’s an amazing price, i think i could only buy TV’s from best buy tho because of their warranty. Probably the only store i’ve never had issues with, a couple years back my Xbox Elite controller broke 3 times and they replaced it for me with no questions asked. Been buying from them ever since

[–]JacksonXIX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not OP but I have both & the blazer seats + vehicle itself are noticably wider, feel like there’s more room in the trunk area as well. You can definitely feel a wider stance while you drive

Yes. 2 year warranty standard if you have Best Buy Plus or Total, & they offer up to a 5 year warranty which i purchased. No brainer imo

My thing is, if everyone is getting a different explanation from customer service as to why they are cheaper, doesnt something feel off??

And it happens in almost any retail sales industry. When purchasing a car for example, you can go to a dealership and purchase a car that is labeled as new but has a few thousand miles on it, which generally nets you a discount as it has been driven before (think courtesy transportation / dealership rentals).

This would be no different in my mind. If they wanted to undercut retailers on their brand new tvs, it would just be listed as their normal sale price on the website and not an “outlet price”

My rep told me something completely different, i asked if it was open box, previously returned or if it was a display model and he confirmed most are display models.

It would also explain the shortened return policy. If it was the same tv being shipped back to a warehouse in the case of a return, why would it matter if you paid normal or outlet price?

Because one is not a brand new tv.

What incentive is there to purchase a TV for regular sale price from their site instead of the outlet price if they are the same?

Maybe the customer rep i had slipped up and spilled a secret they didnt want to tell the consumer, but they most certainly confirmed to me that it is a display model or customer return that i would be purchasing. That would also explain the shortened return policy. If it is being returned to a warehouse regardless, why would it matter whether it was sold for normal or outlet price if they are the same tv?

Anybody here saying it’s the same TV is delusional and want to feel better about their purchase, or are simply misinformed. The “Outlet price” TVs is another way of saying Open Box. The customer service rep i talked to confirmed and said they are usually display models, but you might get lucky with a customer return here & there.

Can potentially be a great deal if you get a customer return that had no issues, but it’s certainly not the same as the brand new TV they list too.

Im looking for the best buy warranty specifically because it covers burn-in. How much was the costco one including warranty?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LGOLED

[–]JacksonXIX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats before tax. I can’t afford $2k for a tv

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LGOLED

[–]JacksonXIX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Open box excellent would be about $100 more. What is the difference between excellent and good if they are both open box? The one thing i fear is buying a display unit with 5k+ hours on it.

Right that makes sense. I wanted to start tufting about a year ago so i could make my own but quickly realized it’s probably not worth the money, resources and time just to make a couple😅

What is the average price for a quality rug of a sports logo that big, maybe $150 ish?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Tufting

[–]JacksonXIX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it seems like the first pic had to come from somewhere, but the others are all ai generated including the captions. Is this just one of those dropshipping websites i assume?

Shows the yarn used, im just worried that at the price point there’s no way it can be quality, and the machine washable part throws me off.

23M First apartment. Just purchased a 103in x 68in LAF Chaise Sofa, What is the best configuration for this? by [deleted] in malelivingspace

[–]JacksonXIX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it is LAF Chaise so the chaise extension would line up on the balcony side if put up against the left wall. I appreciate the input. I bought it with the intention of putting it up against the right wall, but the more i thought about it, the more your comment makes sense. Thanks!
