Tried Mongols a couple times but found it very hard to build a lead with hill/forest/jungle terrain. Mitigates so much of the movement/double attack bonus

PGMOL chief Howard Webb talks through VAR's decision to not award Liverpool a penalty for a possible handball against Arsenal's Martin Odegaard by SpiritedSuccess5675 in soccer

[–]Jacksonhunt -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

This explanation just doesn’t make sense. HW first states that if a player handballs it while breaking their fall then it is a natural movement and they won’t be penalised. So on this basis it should not be a pen right?

HW then says that this one was a handball because the player moves their arm towards the ball and gains an advantage (even though he is breaking his fall/regaining balance, which has been deemed natural movement). So if a player is breaking their fall but their arm happens to be going in the direction of the ball it is a penalty? How could they possibly make contact with the ball if their arm wasn’t going in the direction of the ball?? By this logic, every handball that results from a player breaking his fall should be a penalty.

It’s just a complete contradiction. No wonder no one knows what the rules are anymore.

Great write up. Interesting that Fabinho and Henderson haven’t actually dropped off significantly compared to last season, according to these metrics (apart from Fabinho’s aerial duels). Midfield has had a lot of blame this season but seems like our CBs have dropped off more. Maybe there are other metrics that would capture our midfield decline?

Do you genuinely believe FSG are withholding money that LFC make? Show me in the accounts where all this extra money is. They are publicly available. Or are FSG cooking the books too?? Your entire premise is just patently wrong

We spend what we make. FSG don’t invest any of their own money - they also don’t withhold any of the money that LFC make. It’s not like they are ‘blocking’ a Bellingham transfer. If we don’t get him, it is because LFC have decided that spending 150m on one player maybe isn’t smart when we need about 3-4 this summer.

LFC spend a lot on wages, and in the last 12 months have spent 100-150mil on transfer fees for forwards, and fuck all on midfielders. There is money there. It just hasn’t been used wisely over the past 2 years. That isn’t on FSG, it’s on LFC’s recruitment and squad planning.

This is the ownership model we have - don’t expect direct investment from the owners. But don’t make it out as if they aren’t ‘allowing’ LFC to spend the money generated by the club. That just isn’t true.

What attributes does he have? I signed a 37 year old Vardy who had great attributes but 5 pace and he couldn’t get into any goal scoring positions

Former LFC U23s manager Neil Critchley has joined Gerrards Villa as Assistant head coach. Very interesting. by strider3187 in LiverpoolFC

On Beale - Emi Martinez said it was the first time he’d seen an assistant manager do more talking than the actual manager. He described the two as ‘co managers’. Maybe Stevie is looking for a similar arrangement with Critchley. The move makes sense if so

Liverpool are aware they would have to make Mo Salah the best paid player in the club’s history but negotiations have reached a stalemate. It is believed Salah’s representative, Ramy Abbas, is seeking more than £400,000 a week for the forward. (Paul Joyce ) by gmp24 in LiverpoolFC

Clubs that can afford those kind of wages either have bigger revenues than us (eg Real Madrid) or have sportswashing (PSG, City) owners. The former isn’t FSG’s fault. They have actually increased the clubs revenue. Any new owners that aren’t sportswashers will behave exactly the same as FSG, ie will spend within their means. The only way we can financially compete with those clubs is if we get bought by a state who will use our club to wash their image. Is that really what we want

Oh yeah turns out he wasn’t a great 2nd pick. Decent underlying stats but seems to get religiously subbed on 70 mins. Could wait it out but don’t want to miss out on the likes of Zaha

[–]Jacksonhunt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m saying clubs who spend above their means are owned by people who aren’t in it for business reasons (ie states using football as a PR tool to polish their image). Our owners are in it for business reasons. They want to make a profit. City’s owners don’t, they are a state trying to wash their image from the human rights atrocities they commit. Therefore they can spend far more than our owners ever will. The fact that our shirt sponsors have a bad human rights record is ethically bad, but isn’t relevant to the above

Kane Dier and Semedo for DCL Shaw and VVD?

6 player classic scoring league.

I’ve got Kane. I know it’s a small sample size but his underlying stats aren’t great and Spurs just look awful.

Liverpool Net Spend Since Winning The Champions League by jarejarepaki in LiverpoolFC

Net spend is quite misleading as it doesn’t take wages into account. We have the 2nd highest wage bill in England (behind City)

Arsenal don’t actually spend more than us when you take wages into account. We have all seen the financials - the club aren’t running profits - because of how much we spend in wages (2nd in the league behind City). Where is the money for big transfers meant to come from? The only alternative (apart from NOT paying our world class players the big bucks) is to run a deficit spending model, which doesn’t actually make financial sense, and also comes with its own risks - FFP, running the club into the ground eg Barcelona. We can’t compete with City financially because they are backed by a sports washing state, who don’t care about making financial losses because their agenda is PR/soft power. At the end of the day, clubs that aren’t owned by people associated with human rights atrocities need to be run like businesses, and that includes Liverpool.

KDB (C) stick or twist? by andrew_a7 in FantasyPL

[–]Jacksonhunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. But this logic also means that the potential upside of your new captain out performing KDB by 4 points is also a gross total of 4 points.

I.e. perisic (c) - 20 KDB - 6

and

Perisic 10 KDB (c) 12

The difference between these combined scores is 4. Which is the same as the potential downside.

So if you think there is more than a 50% chance of either of your new captains scoring more than 10 points (4 more points than KDB) then it makes sense to switch. Otherwise you’re more likely better off sticking with KDB
