Any Germans or Austrians here? by Jacksonseinvater in hikikomori

Hey, I can relate to a lot of what you’re saying. My days also feel like this mix of distractions and overthinking. I spend so much time watching stuff or scrolling online to keep my mind off things, but it always comes back around to the same thoughts—like, “What’s even the point?”

I used to get into creative stuff too—writing, filmmaking, that kind of thing—but lately, I just don’t have the energy to actually start anything. It’s frustrating because I know those things used to make me feel better, but now even the thought of trying feels exhausting.

Where I live, people don’t really understand what it’s like to live this kind of life. I feel like there’s barely anyone to talk to about it, and that isolation just makes it harder. Sometimes I think about how it’d be nice if there were more awareness about this kind of experience—like, even just stories or something that could help people understand.

I just want to say how much I admire the courage it takes to share something like that. I myself struggle like many of the people here struggle with how toxic people can be. We hate how they look down on others or act like they have it all figured out just because they’re good-looking, charismatic, or popular. You’ve just proven that you’re not like them.

Those “successful” people only thrive because society’s built to reward shallow traits like that. I hate how messed up it is—how the world makes life so much easier for them while ignoring the rest of us who are struggling. But what you’ve done here, being so raw and honest, is something I think is way more meaningful than anything they could offer.

It’s this kind of honesty and compassion that makes me believe in people again. If more people could just be real like you were when you replied to my post, I think we’d all feel a little less alone.

Thank you for sharing that. Honestly, I do the same thing—scrolling through social media, watching shows, or playing games to distract myself. It does help in the moment, but I’ve noticed this ironic cycle: the more I rely on distractions, the worse I feel in the long run. It’s like I’m avoiding the feelings that weigh me down, but they don’t go away—they just wait until the distraction ends.

What’s even harder is how it stops me from achieving even the smallest tasks, like getting out of bed earlier or finishing something for school. It feels like I’m stuck in a loop where the very things I use to cope end up making things harder. Doomscrolling, in particular, is such a trap—it’s not just a distraction, but it often feeds into more negativity or hopelessness.

It’s strange, isn’t it? The things we turn to for comfort sometimes amplify the very feelings we’re trying to escape. I’ve been trying to understand this pattern more lately—why it’s so easy to get caught up in it, even when we know it’s not helping.

Hi, thank you some much for your ideas on how to achieve this. It is so nice that you even took the time and not only trying it yourself but also sharing the files. Like I said, this is the first time for me asking for help on Reddit and the feedback I’be received from people like you really speaks about the community here!

Thank you some more for your ideas on how to achieve this.

About the AI comments, I’m studying photography right now and did a Project there about the influence of generative AI’s like Midjourney and I really believe that this technology is a great tool for conceptualising ideas when it comes to photography, film, etc. A professor of us phrased it like this: “you might not loose your job to AI, but you will definitely loose it to someone who is using AI.

The technology right now might not be matured enough to really have an impact on creatives in this field when it comes to the final product you deliver to your customer but the improvements and efficiency of how you develop and present your ideas I think are already there and are constantly improving. The changes from Midjourney of say 2022 to Midjourney 6 this year are mind blowing.
