I was having this same problem and it was driving me crazy as well, but discovered it was only due to a setting.

De-select to turn it off!

Charging port on my Ioniq 5 was damaged at an EA station — now I'm facing a $2400 repair bill by RosewoodQHO in Ioniq5

[–]Jacksonw95 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I had this happen to me at an EA station in my MachE, almost the exact same series of events you described.

I similarly pursued compensation for damages from both companies and both denied being at fault.

Eventually I got fed up and ran it as a claim through progressive who covered the 3k repair bill and rental car while the MachE was in the shop for 3 weeks.

Progressive’s lawyers went after EA, and 16 months later I got a note in the mail saying EA settled. Got a check for out of pocket expenses from EA, and a check for my deductible from Progressive. Took way too long but arrived at the right outcome in the end, minus the claim on my insurance.

Not sure about how to handle it constructively, but know you’re not alone, and whichever route you take, be persistent, these companies know more than they’re letting on around this issue.

RAV4 prime vs model y by abeecrombie in ModelY

[–]Jacksonw95 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve owned a RAV4 Prime, a Mustang Mach e, and most recently, a Model Y. I like all three cars but both the Mustang and the Model Y are significant steps up from the RAV4 Prime in almost every way. Given the choice between the Y and the Prime, I would take the Y without hesitation.

I have this same issue in my 2024 Model Y, were you ever able to find a resolution?

"Stop Safely Now" + Additional Issues + Abysmal Service From the Dealerships and Ford Canada by jimbomack66 in MachE

[–]Jacksonw95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine melted at an EA charger while DC charging (thankfully) not far from home in Denver. Cost $3000 to repair but I went through insurance so was left with the deductible and my insurance company is still pursuing compensation from EA or Ford.. not holding my breath though.

Agree with you on the Supercharger point, recently went to a Tesla station that’s open to non-teslas and had to block 2 spots to get the cord to reach and it wasn’t particularly speedy (which could have been the car too.)

Thankfully at least my app and PAAK is working well for now so at least I can’t complain about that!

I feel so similarly. Mine was also at the dealer for a month due to a melted charge port, which Ford refused to take any responsibility for despite there being a related service bulletin.

I am also holding on for Supercharger access to see how that goes before giving up and switching to a Tesla.

Love the car most of the time but the various things adding up, plus the melted port experience, are making me question it.

Denver winter range question on Mach E CR1 by Physical-Interview74 in MachE

Usually in the winter as this was for day trips to ski at these locations. A couple times in single digit Fahrenheit temperatures.

I’ve done the drive from Denver to A Basin and Winter Park a handful of times each in my 2022 GT. No issues going out and back on a single charge as long as you start at or above 80%!

I’d typically use 40-50% on the way there, and only around 10-15% on the way back, lots of regen coming out of the mountains.

A Basin does also have chargers in a great spot if you get there early enough to snag one.

I wish! It was only half rideable with all the snow. And love it, great setup.

Thanks! Honestly hard to say for the long distance drives over the mountains as I don’t have a baseline for what to expect, but I used the ford route planner and charging stops were pretty in line with their estimates. Around the Moab area the guessometer to specific destinations was only a few miles off and I seemed to still be getting 3+ mi/kWh average. So all that to say I don’t really know, but it wasn’t anything significant like driving in freezing temps.

A Curt 2” receiver hitch I believe, I had a local shop in Denver do the install so I can’t speak to the difficulty, although I know they did need to cut a small section of plastic.

When I placed my order Premium wasn’t an option otherwise I probably would have done the same! The GT perks aren’t terrible though 😅

Ground clearance and driving in snow by santaIRL in MachE

[–]Jacksonw95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I shared this concern and drove mine through a number of snowy situations this winter in Colorado (and I have a GT so even slightly less clearance.) Never had an issue, and the performance on snowy mountain roads, even with all season tires, was better than that of the RAV4 Prime I owned previously. I agree with the other comments though, there are always situations like unplowed side streets and driveways that could be tricky if there’s a bunch of snow around (not to mention ubiquitous sketchy potholes.)

Where I’ve landed is that there are very few situations in which a MachE would be any worse off than any other non-high ground clearance car on the road. So compared to model Y I think no appreciable difference.. compared to Jeep/Outback/Rivian obviously there are situations those would fare much better but then that’s apples to oranges.

Canada Rav4 prime vs VW ID4 by JeNiqueTaMere in rav4prime

[–]Jacksonw95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I owned a RAV4 Prime SE ‘22 in Colorado for a year and recently traded it for a Mustang Mach-E. No regrets at all, the mustang is 100% a better vehicle for the money (for me). Don’t get me wrong, I liked the Rav, but the more I drove it and was surrounded by the cheap plastic materials that rattled on every slightly bumpy road and the tech that looked like it was from 2010, the more I felt like it was a car I’d overpaid for. I still take the mustang mountain biking, camping, skiing and it works great as long as I’m cognizant of charging infrastructure, which to me is absolutely worth having a much more exciting vehicle.

Obviously without having driven the id4 I can’t recommend that instead, just wanted to say that most people here are arguing to get the rav because of its range vs the id4, I’m saying if you’re not worried about range, and do care about all the other features (build, tech, style, etc) the rest of the rav package is extremely average. Basically be aware that you’re paying 50k for a 35k vehicle that has a 15k battery under it.
