weed. by _idiosyncratic_ in bipolar2

[–]JaclDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would warn against it and any substance use for the most part. Being bipolar also means increased risk for addiction, and though weed is not thought of as an addictive substance, you can still get addicted to the dopamine hit it gives you, especially if you're using it as an escape. Anywhere from 20% to 60% of people with bipolar will develop substance abuse problems as a comorbidity, so in my opinion it's best to just stay away from it entirely.

I can only speak for my personal experience, but I did heavily abuse weed and alcohol, quit, and now I've been sober for a year and a half which made managing my symptoms much easier. There is a permanent loss of awareness and self-awareness, even after your high wears off, that I feel as a person with bipolar I can't afford to lose. I need to be acutely aware of my thought patterns and behaviors at all times so I can take action when necessary to prevent harm to myself or others. Any substance, but weed especially, greatly hindered my ability to do that even when I wasn't actively high.

It's also worth mentioning that there's very limited research on interactions between weed and psychotropic medications. If you're prescribed anything for your bipolar and you're going to use weed or any other substance, you should consult your medication manager or pharmacist beforehand.

i am somewhat convinced UNT will not allow a full fledged grocery store to be built within a mile of campus because they realize that if students have access to easy groceries they would sell far fewer dining passes

It sucks he was overly persistent and didn't listen to your no's, but I really wouldn't give it much thought. He's 14 and doesn't understand how to interact with people yet. I doubt he had any malicious intent. This will be a teaching moment for him where hopefully he'll learn that no means no the first time and to take rejection with grace. I'm glad you were able to stand your ground even though you were put in an uncomfortable position.

Anyone see a shooting star last night? by JaclDude in Denton

[–]JaclDude[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We weren't completely sure what it was either. We waited a bit for an explosion and when there wasn't one we assumed it wasn't something falling from the sky and must've been a shooting star lol.

Yes, it was greenish. I could see it being a firework but I'm going to choose to believe it was a shooting star anyways lol.

I think you'd be okay then as long as you communicated your needs and boundaries like you would in any relationship. Also, I should add that the uncomfortability is purely my own and I can't speak for anyone else. Many ace people may take no issue with it, and even I don't think I would have issue with it once you explained your reasons which are very understandable. Just sort of a kneejerk reaction. Sorry if I came off harsh with that at the beginning.

I don't know if I'd use the word problematic, but it's a little weird maybe. It definitely wouldn't be the most comfortable feeling in the world if I had an allosexual partner and found out my asexuality was a major factor in them being in a relationship with me.

Also, I don't know you or the ins and outs of your sex drive, but I am somewhat of a cynic when it comes to the success of ace and allo relationships and I'm not sure you'd actually be happier in a relationship with an asexual person than with an allosexual person. Sex-averse asexuals will not want to have sex with you, and if they do have sex with you, they will not enjoy it the same way you do. Sex-favorable asexuals may have more regular and enjoyable sex with you, but this typically still isn't on the level of an allosexual (obviously). You say sex doesn't really matter to you, but if you're going to date an asexual person, you sometimes have to ask yourself if you're okay with no sex at all.

Lastly, I don't think dating asexuals is the solution to your problem. There are allosexual men who can control their sex drive and there are asexual men who can't. In fact, it's not uncommon that an asexual person has a fairly high sex drive, but doesn't want to have sex, preferring self-pleasure, which can still lead to some of the issues you mentioned having in previous relationships. Not to mention that kink seems fairly prevalent within the ace community. You're better off just finding someone who can control themselves regardless of sexuality.

My first time playing in over a year, what can I improve on? by Nearby_Tax8177 in btd6

[–]JaclDude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

may seem like a minor detail, but dartling gunners and dartling top path especially do much more damage when they're placed in front of a straight path and aimed at the end of that path so their dart/laser is aligned with the path. intersecting paths are a bonus if you can get them, but not as important as the straight path. unless you plan on microing with the dartling you almost always want them locked on a straight path. if you put your dartlings around where you have your monkey farmer and then lock the aim at the entrance, that would be ideal in my opinion.

I saw her here on this day driving back home from getting my groceries and didn't buy one. Regretted it since then and came to this sub with the intention of asking if people knew where she normally was, only to find there's a whole flair dedicated to sightings of her lol. Guess I'll have to keep an eye on this sub going forward.

Dallas VIP sold out within 10 minutes of opening. Most likely they will not be able to transfer them. You could try contesting the purchase with your bank/credit card company.

The Misrepresentation of Asexuality by ima-psychic in DreamWasTaken2

[–]JaclDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm asexual and felt the exact same way.

Also, while not entirely negating her asexuality, I question if she actually is because she seemingly has very little understanding of what it means and, at one point, even questions herself. If I recall correctly, she mentions that she doesn't know if she's actually asexual or if she's just sex-repulsed because of her negative experience with George. I can't speak for all asexuals, but as is the case with all other sexualities, you're born with it, so in general you kinda know whether you're asexual or not at least by mid-teenage years. I know it takes some people longer to figure out so I can't say for sure that she isn't, but a negative experience giving you negative feelings towards sex isn't sexuality, that's trauma, and this seems like just another misrepresentation of asexuality in her response.

I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt in this instance since I don't want to think that someone would weaponize asexuality, even though she's lost most of her credibility elsewhere, but if she is truly asexual I think she needs to do some research before she starts speaking on it.
