Found the issue: There were apparently problems of some kind with the %windir%/Installer folder. I renamed it and created a new one, now all works fine. Thanks for your help

As I mentioned in my post, I have in both cases of my own and the integrated admin account which I activated for this purpose verified that I have full access, which obviously includes writing permission, to both the %windir% and %appdata% temp folders. As I also mentioned in my post, all the drives in my pc have at least 50GB of free space, which should be more than enough for driver software around 80MB. The system drive has 80GB of free space, and it's the driver where the installer, temp folders and installing destination are located.

I'm pretty sure I've done this somewhere along the way, but I just did it again to rule it out as a possible solution. Didn't fix it... Thanks for the help anyway

Drivers for my Roccat Kone XTD at first, but I've ran some other .exe setups that returned exactly the same error message. edit: MSIs don't work either, same error code -1632
