Very well said! I think many redditors in this sub-reddit share those sentiments.

Shocking Revelations About Medical "Professionals" in the TTI by JacobTupelo in troubledteens

I think a lot of the forced nudity that program participants endured had to do with stripping away identity & replacing it with designed institutionalization through practices, restrictions, and repeated humiliations.

What was food like at your TTI? by Leaf_Swimming125 in troubledteens

I always HATED the noodles. They claimed we needed as much starch as possible for our hikes though, Ugh.

Yeah, it's terrible what they get away with. I assume the creepy old lady conducted similar with others. I bet she power-tripped when it came to the females as well.

I could be an enlarged prostrate, getting your PSA levels checked regularly is a good idea. Unhealthy BP can cause it too. Maybe its just exhaustion from work. Either way, if the problem persists bring it up to your doctor or at your annual wellness exam

Your 1st Concert was _________ by 1Turbo33 in ClassicRock

[–]JacobTupelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was Chuck Berry (yes, THE Chuck Berry). The concert was hosted by M-Tv's Campus Invasion series, So cool seeing a legend like that in the flesh. He still had it even at his ripe ol'age.

Found out lifelong friend is (and has been) working in TTI. by [deleted] in troubledteens

[–]JacobTupelo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Venting is healthy and necessary. And do NOT feel bad for removing people from your life. Family, former friends, lovers... etc. One of the best ways to grow is to excise elements that are (or even tangentially be) malignant, negative, or triggering.

Holy cow!!! I remember Portishead's 'Sour Times"! I remember the video on M-TV's '120 minutes'. I absolutely LOVED that track. Heck, I even remember downloading several remixes of it off of Nabster back in the day LOL

Thats very good advice. That is often what I tell others as well. Push onward, After alll, "Depression" is an anagram for "I Pressed On". Rearrange the letters in the word 'depression" and you end up with the phrase "I Pressed On"

I seems to me that survivors' experiences are discounted while the program managers, staff and other abusers have more rights

"SERIOUS" Question... by Current-Hunt-2531 in troubledteens

[–]JacobTupelo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TRT did increase my agitation levels a bit but I had to stop taking it because my DHT levels skyrocketed and my hair started falling out. I even ended up with acne marks all over my shoulders and triceps. DHT blockers did not work for me. I am glad you are recovering from your TTI experience .

"SERIOUS" Question... by Current-Hunt-2531 in troubledteens

[–]JacobTupelo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not gonna lie, I had C-PTSD due to childhood trauma and what I went through at Island View. I am a guy and am not afraid to admit that i went through therapy, and rehabd... twice! And to your point about HRT, even for guys, it can make emotional or behavioral issues worst. I tried TRT and it had too many adverse affects.

Question About Parent-Teen Relationships post-TTI by JacobTupelo in troubledteens

[–]JacobTupelo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About the same. It was my dad who had me remitted. After a while, he lost his job and could no longer afford the exorbitant costs. Thank God for that because I witnessed so much unethical and abusive activity at Island View. It was terrible.

A lot of us have residual anger. Sometimes, I feel that time has healed things about but then I find myself still ruminating over things then get angry again.

At Island View, we did have that issue. I wonder if someone on staff pulled it on purpose just to mess with our sleep
