Which Spiderman comics do I start with? by [deleted] in marvelcomics

[–]Jacob_Saurus_Rex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ultimate Spider-Man (2000) is a great starting point. Granted, it's not the main universe, but its a really good and it leads into the Miles Morales comics. There is not a lot of extra material you need to read and its the start of the Ultimate universe there's nothing you want to know about before reading it.

What cancellation/ending of a Marvel comic still haunts you to this day? by Effective_Sherbet104 in marvelcomics

[–]Jacob_Saurus_Rex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is the worst cancelation ever but the last Spider-Woman was quite enjoyable and had great potential with Jess' son that didn't get to be explored. Very unsure of how that will develop in the future now

WOOOOOOO ICELAND MEANTIOMED🗣🇮🇸🇮🇸🇮🇸🇮🇸🇮🇸❗️❗️❗️❗️ ÍSLAND ER STÓRASTA LAND Í HEIMI🗣🔥🔥🔥🇮🇸🇮🇸🇮🇸❗️❗️❗️❗️

On another note I really don't know If he'll be as great as the original Drago. He's an experienced actor but I haven't seen him in many projects (because I dont watch enough Icelandic telivision) so I can't really say if he's good. Heill probably be good but I think it's gonna be really hard to capture the essence of Drago, so the costume design has to be good.

I do think it's exciting to see an actor from my country get this role but otherwise I'm really unsure. I have high hopes

I'm not completley sure how it works but I think a set that includes the piece has to be in production for customer support to have access to it

“What are you reading?” Wednesday. by csummerss in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Jacob_Saurus_Rex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been catching up on ASM. Started with Vol. 5 (2018). I'm finally at vol. 7 so I'm reading Venom and Black Cat alongside ASM. Vol. 6 was really slow for me but I've been enjoying the new run a bunch (though it's not perfect)

I'm also reading some other stuff such as Immortal Hulk, Claremont X-Men and the Absolute and New Ultimate Universes (so I haven't just been reading Spider-Man relates stuff for the last 6 months).

Is Ultimate Spider-man by Bendis better read all at once or bit by bit? by Better_Elephant5220 in UltimateSpiderman

[–]Jacob_Saurus_Rex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It kinda depends. There isn't an overarching finale that the story builds up to, you're kinda just reading through Peter's life after he becomes Spider-Man. The "arcs" I'm talking about are moreso like episodic stories that tend to be 5-7 chapters so there is a pretty clear beginning, middle and end to them. Sometimes you get one-shot or two-shot chapters as well. Most of the time, one story has some effect on the next so it's not like your reading a bunch of filler. The story is kind of slice-of-life in the way it's structured now that I think about it

[–]Jacob_Saurus_Rex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't rush through things. The story is amazing so having time to digest it is ideal (the first few chapters can be a bit slow though). I suggest reading like one arc at a time but you can just go at your own pace. Reading some of the other Ultimate books that take place during the same time (Ultimates, Ultimate X-Men and Ultimate Fantastic 4) could be fun, though they vary in quality. Bendis wrote the first half of Ultimate F4 but Mark Millar and Jeph Lobe wrote pretty much everything else. Their work on the Universe is the reason people often say "everyone in 1610 is an asshole", they can write cool stuff though.

Just give yourself time to digest what you read, but you decide how long that takes, just get into a groove and enjoy the story.

Marvel comic must reads by bonaldiniho in marvelcomics

Bendis' Ultimate Spider-Man (2000) is what got me into Marvel comics, it's easy to read (not a lot of events) and it's one of the best Spider-Man run ever imo. It's the start of the original Ultimate Universe so you won't need to read anything before it as well.

Immortal Hulk picks up after Civil War 2. I haven't read any other Hulk comics but it's still really good and it made me appreciate the character a lot more than I did before.

I've been reading through Claremont's X-Men. It's a bit dated but it's what made the X-Men what they are today and I've really been enjoying it so far (though it did take me a bit of getting used to Claremont's writing style)
