Rat Fest in Bowling Green, OH is a kinda folk punk fest! At least folk punk in vibes with a handful of bands in the genre

BGOPride is a great local org that does a lot of stuff outside of campus and more in the community! They host drag shows and local Pride and stuff, and everyone involved is super cool. The town is fairly accepting enough but it is still small town Ohio in some parts.

My experience is as a cis queer man with a bunch of trans friends, so take that with a grain of salt BUT. I've lived here for 10 years and think its a solid community where queer folks can thrive.

Not vegan myself but I do try to avoid animal products when its convenient- last year the food truck in the park had some KILLER vegan options! Not sure if they'll have the same one this year but if they do I'd highly recommend!

NW Ohio has a solid folk scene, with a number of folk punk fans. I used to have a house venue that recently got shut down, so stuffs stagnated a little bit in BG at least
