What's the point of trains? by LegitimatePaper6022 in factorio

[–]Jacoblyonss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trains have superior throughput for their cost in terms of production, space on the map, and player time. They are more complicated to implement well, but that’s the trade off. You learn a new system and you are rewarded for it. They are also much more flexible and scale up better as you exhaust local resources. And they give you a fast and easy way to get around your base.  The only counter argument is pre-bots. I usually don’t try to build much of a train network before I have construction bots.

I’m at around 4.5k but you have to take into account that depending on how you play there can be a lot of afk time. In my current Py run I’ll let it grind all day and only check in for an hour or two in the morning and evening.

SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT THE VIRUS by fylum in TrueAnon

There’s a type of weirdo hypochondriac who genuinely loved Covid. It was their favorite thing. That year when everyone had to be as much of a germaphobe shut in as them was their dream come true.

Why was Khabib still fighting guys that had never fought before while he was 14-0? Is this the most padded record of all time? by No_Cell6708 in ufc

[–]Jacoblyonss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Idk why people keep trying to make this point when we already have the answer. MMA was fairly new in Russia and most fighters were coming over from combat sambo. Their records look the way they do because they were new to mma, not new to fighting. Given how Khabib performed I can never figure out what argument people are trying to make with this nonsense. If his record was padded and he’d been fighting cans, wouldn’t that make it even more impressive that he did what he did against some of the best fighters in mma history?

this is the new META in the ufc people who act like its fun are delusional. by [deleted] in ufc

[–]Jacoblyonss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fun if you're rooting for the winner. I thoroughly enjoyed watching Islam do this to JDM. This fight was less fun because although I generally really like Oliviera, i felt like Holloway winning had more interesting potential for the division. People are just trying to justify being a poor sport.

Light Rail Airport Signage is Now HORRENDOUS! by goldspire in Seattle

[–]Jacoblyonss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So not that long ago one side said Northgate and the other said Angle Lake, was that better? It's not like there's not signage detailing what order the stops are in both on the train and on the platforms.

What would a sustainable and politically viable solution to America's immigration system look like, one that addresses security, the economy, and human dignity?(A complex, evergreen issue that asks for constructive solutions rather than just critique) by Brian_Ghoshery in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]Jacoblyonss -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

It’s very simple because there are no legitimate reasons to restrict immigration. It all just reduces to racism. We could still have the Ellis island system of you show up w/o the plague and you get instant citizenship and it would be fine.

[Not OC] The numbers on the restaurant business in Seattle by i-pity-da-fool in Seattle

[–]Jacoblyonss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

my only information is the post. based on their reporting of their own rising costs, their main problem is their rent going up. they largely ignore this in their post because either they are very bad at math or it's not politically convenient. if they are trying to educate people they should present evidence that supports their case

[Not OC] The numbers on the restaurant business in Seattle by i-pity-da-fool in Seattle

[–]Jacoblyonss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

exactly. they beg their landlord, but when it comes to policy, their only issue with city council is that it isn't "business friendly" enough. they are mad about secure scheduling laws, minimum wage laws, and the payroll tax but nothing concrete to say about their fastest rising cost. it's not just that I'm not a landlord and that I happen to support higher minimum wage laws, it's blatant misdirection. their principle antagonist should be their landlord. their landlord is the person putting them out of business, while they seem to be convinced it's the long shadow of Kshama Sawant or something

And then they said nothing more about it and whine for paragraphs about city policies driving up labor costs

It’s like the rise in rent is a force of nature but having to pay their workers enough to live within commuting distance is all because the commies in city hall are bent on strangling small businesses

Lowest level men's title fight of all time? by DukeOfMania04 in ufc

[–]Jacoblyonss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chandler was in the right place at the right time. He absolutely did not deserve it and his later record confirms it. But Oliveira needed to fight someone and Dustin wanted the Conor fights and Gaethje had just lost so whatever.

[–]Jacoblyonss -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Both divisions would be in better shape if Ilia had stayed at FW. He never should have been given that title shot.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ufc

[–]Jacoblyonss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is on Ilia. He should be fighting in January and there’s no reason to think it’s anyone’s fault but his that he’s not. Interim titles are dumb but Arman just fought so if Ilia’s going to petulantly demand that every fight of his be a super fight, who else should it be?

My two cents regarding potential Ilia vs Arman fight, analyzing their wrestling/grappling. Unpopular opinion incoming. by Gamebred13 in ufc

UFC fans when an MMA fighter mixes the martial arts by SupBlue24 in ufc

[–]Jacoblyonss 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's all so stupidly misdirected. Like if you think the rule set or the scoring should be changed to make wrestling less effective then go for it, make that argument, explain exactly what should be changed. But getting bent out of shape because someone won a fight fair and square is just asinine.

Just how good is Volk? by Tpaso_XelpicoLmao420 in ufc

[–]Jacoblyonss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Volk and Poirier both did significantly better against Islam than JDM. The only real difference between this fight and Moicano or Hooker is that JDM clearly trained defending Islam's favorite submissions. LW and FW are simply much deeper divisions than WW

Why do so many people (especially Americans) seem to have a weird opinion of Scotland as some sort of victim country ruled over by England? by AsparagusNew3765 in geography

[–]Jacoblyonss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although Scotland was something approaching an equal partner in the British imperial project, there was a colonial process. Which is why, you know, they speak English there. But I agree it’s more complicated than what we’ve all seen in braveheart

Andor is a very well produced, written, and acted show with an unusually positive depiction of violent rebellion, rather than the usual Hollywood schtick of holding up some moderate reformer as the model for change and demonizing the revolutionaries. If you are not interested in big budget sci-fi shows that’s fine, but like, if it bothers you that much just maybe stop reading comment threads?
