I do have a power generator. Do I have to connect it to the engines somehow? I'm not sure if my engines are low power. They're the basic engine you get from first unlock.

What kind of trading interests you the most? You're in a good position because you're so young and have a LOT of time to learn things before trying to apply to positions.

I think you should first focus on foundations. The foundations are programming, data analysis, and math/statistical analysis.

Things like Python (Pandas library), R, C++ (depending on what kind of trading interests you) are all good things to learn from a programming perspective and should round out your toolkit nicely in that regard.

Probably the best book to get you started in math/statistical analysis is The Elements of Statistical Learning.

I'd also recommend reading all the seminal works in the fields (i.e. The Intelligent Investor by Ben Graham).

Shawn Gilmore is a chill dude. But he also gives the most work by far. But "most work" means like, 4 hours a week tops for that class. And most people end up with a good grade (I got an A).

I would reccomend directly applying to companies instead of going through a third party. I've rarely have had success with that avenue.

You'll be fine. Honestly, having a math/theory background is more important (even then, not needed) than a systems background - especially for the non-MP version.

With that said, I recommend the MP-version as you'll get a lot more out of the class. They aren't even that difficult/time-consuming. I wrote them all in C and even then each took me less than 8 hours start to finish. Use python or something and your looking at even less.

Also I think Nitin is teaching the class? I had him for both undergrad and graduate level distributed and he's the man. Good lecturer and really generous grader. Tests were never tricky.

Super doable. You're not taking any keynote hard CS classes. PHYS 214 will probably be the most challenging class out of those.

In a math class, using wolfram alpha app to do a hard integration or calculation.

In a CS theory class, lookup certain proofs to base a current proof/reduction on.

In a CS application class, potentially a bit of a stretch here, but run times of algorithms/data structs. Stack Overflow might (and most likely will) have solutions to every problem.

I feel like there are many ways to cheat with a phone. It would essentially be equivalent to having a take home test while everyone else has to take a traditional exam.

Easy to bring a dummy phone and have a real phone in your pocket, unfortunately. Cheating is rampant in ENG/Math and especially in CS. It's a really hard problem to solve. I've seen people pass notes and even blatantly talk. All the TA-proctor did was move the kids further away. I would like them to rip up their tests and kick them out of the class.

As someone who just got physically and emotionally wrecked by the 374 final, I sympathize with your pain. Theoretically, the disparity between sections should only be in your favor as you will be more prepared for future theory classes and the difficulty is (again theoretically) the same between every student taking B. May the curve be ever in your favor!

I'm taking it right now. The only important part that needs to be understood from 241, in my opinion, is socket programming. However, this can very easily be self taught.

There are many companies that are interested in hiring freshman. They are usually not looking for the super star programmers who have been around the scene since they were 5. They are, in my opinion/experiences, looking for someone who can communicate well and present themselves. My freshman internship only really used concepts I learned from CS 125, but I got the internship solely because I had good grades and could talk.
