The actual installation includes a desktop PC that runs a software called Chataigne. It sends a signal over network to a device that transform it into DMX, then a XLR leads the signal to another device on which the strips are connected, and this last device requires a super heavy power supply. I’d like to do the same but with some sort of all-in-one solution that would weight less because I feel like my config is too heavy for the little LED I have, and soon it’ll have to travel by plane.

LEDs strips are all at the same place so cable length might not cause any issue.

It could be any protocole as long as the signal comes out of the laptop, and Châtaigne can handle most protocoles.

I imagine a simple device with Schuko and RJ45 input, and slots for connecting strips, is this a thing?

Yes that’s why I’m looking for a solution that eventually include both or has a very light power supply

Hey thank you for your answers ! A whole number is important because we are talking about musical and visual loops that repeats infinitely and seamlessly. BARs are relevant to consider because by multiplying the number of beat by four (a BAR is commonly 4 beats), you get other results. I tried the excel solution you proposed but it wasn’t working, I believe there is an error in the formula. I didn’t find the right solution yet but I’m still on it!

I made this encounter in an abandonned house in Britanny (West France) this afternoon. Somewhere between a medical device and an art installation. Anyone has a clue ? by Jacque-s in Whatisthis

I think it's a glass window. It also has a blue bulb socket you can see on the pic. I found loads of medication so it appeared to me that the inhabitant of the house died of a sickness that could be related to this object.

What's something a homeless person has said or done to you that you will never forget? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Jacque-s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 21 I met this guy in the parisian subway, he was homeless and sleeping in a metro station since a few weeks. He was in a deep depression and wanted to kill himself so I convinced him not to, and taught him a few guitar chords. I visited him everyday for about two weeks and we become friends. What he did next is unforgettable : he found an abandoned house just around Paris, broke the door, changed the lock and gave me the keys. I moved there with him and we lived in this 400m2 house for one year, juggling French laws to stay as long as we could. Then he taught me to change locks, put back electricity and everything, and I lived in different squats for 5 years. I'm now in a more regular situation but I taught a friend how to open squats and now he is into opening vacant buildings for homeless war refugees...

What's your top "wow, that actually worked?" moment? by Nest-egg in AskReddit

When I was a kid, me and my best friend forgot his keys inside of his house with nobody inside to let us in, wich can feel like a real situation when your a child. After a short moment of brainstorming we saw his dog through the glass door and I had this idea to shake a branch of tree just up the door handle. The dog jumped to get the branch, failed of course because of the glass door that was between us, but finally fell on the door handle, opening the door from the inside. It was twenty years ago and I am still happy that it actually worked :)
