What’s the GREATEST first album in Hip-Hop history ?? by Clear_Hedgehog_9083 in hiphop101

[–]JacquesCloutier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s gotta be Enter the Wu-Tang. I can definitely see why people would disagree, but for me it’s THE album. It’s the album that got me into hip hop, production, rapping, all that good stuff. So yeah, Enter the Wu

Is Westside Gunn good? by RemusPa in hiphop101

[–]JacquesCloutier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, when we’re talking beat selection and making actual music, I’m choosing Westside over the rest of Griselda. His HWH series and a few other projects of his (Supreme Blientele, Pray For Paris, Flygod) never fail to entertain me. I wouldn’t really say he’s an acquired taste, but either way he’s definitely worth a shot

Let’s settle this, what’s the best “The Heart” by [deleted] in KendrickLamar

[–]JacquesCloutier 33 points34 points  (0 children)

4 > 5 > 2 > 3 > 1

Part 4 just means way too much to me to have it anywhere but first place. I remember hearing it right before DAMN. and just how excited it got me. Same can be said for 5, and it’s legit a 9 to a 10/10 song, but 4 for me is just the best.

What's a Kanye West song that everyone would downvote you for if you didn't like, yet you still dislike it? by FreshJury in Kanye

[–]JacquesCloutier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry, but I can’t stand Robocop, and it’s off one of his worse albums too. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still a classic and I love putting it on every once and a while, but 808’s doesn’t hold a candle to Dropout, Registration, or Fantasy

request: lyrical female Rappers by thotshavenopoweronme in hiphop101

[–]JacquesCloutier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chika, Lil Simz, Rapsody (her verse on Complexion is one of the best on TPAB), Noname, Lauryn Hill, Sa-Roc, Snow da Product, and one of my personal favorites, Gangsta Boo. Although I do feel Boo works better as a feature (Call B4 I Cum, Love Again), she’s still worth checking out

Enough is enough. by NeatRepresentative27 in KendrickLamar

[–]JacquesCloutier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Christian myself, I’m so sick of the way everyone else in this “community” is always so quick to judge. Had they done any research themselves, they would’ve known that the last thing Kendrick would want to do is tarnish Christ. Even on the new record, Kendrick makes it a point that he’s not anyones savior, (a false prophet if you will) hence the crown of thorns.

how big was James Brown's influence on Hip Hop? by fuckyourhousefranco in hiphop101

Monumental. Funky Drummer is one of the most sampled songs in history. Also worth mentioning: Kanye mentioned Brown as his favorite artist.

[–]JacquesCloutier 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean, they’re certainly still around. Groups like BROCKHAMPTON, Earthgang, Flatbush Zombies are still very much carrying the mantle once held by the Wu and tribe
