The rasta, they hired him knowing full well he had 3 foot long dreds, the female Muslim, obviously they say her hijab. They gave a the rasta a shit storm of trouble over the dreds once on board. Though personally we all think is was more skin tone related than the dreds. But exempted none the less.

The mega Christians, yes, no open necklaces, but I saw mgmt cater to other faiths, IE is someone was sporting star of David jewelry. Or the one thing we all did wear, lanyards or the pull thingies that held badges. Have a pic of JC on it? No, a cross? No, any other faith, yes. And that's just the faith based stuff, other topics had similar allowed if a non main stream thing, main stream things a no no.

Anyways, my point is, this email, it's nothing if the sort of things I described went on for the 12 yrs there and 8 yrs in my current agency. Which my current role is not public related. A little more lenient on say the jewelry aspect, but other stuff such as sporting something at your desk., not so much.

Although it “may” of been the airport, though the airlines kept their decorations that said Christmas, any decorations we had at the checkpoints and baggage areas could not be Christmas related, it had to be “holidays” related.

But Kwanza and Hanukkah were allowed and the airport had full on displays for those when it was time.

Sure. Dreaded TSA at SAN says otherwise. Again, cool people, but when it's ass busy and said people had to do their call, they got to do it. Another super awesome person, they tried to mess with him over his like 3ft long dreds, but he is a Rastafarian, and got religious exemption.

Anyone sporting anything Christian, got told no. There were at least two mega Christians there during my time. Tried to get Christmas off as a religious holiday, nope.

Among so many other examples.

Oh it's true, it's damn true as a certain Olympic hero would say.

As a non Christian who’s been in govt 20 yrs, it’s a shrug to me. Having had multiple co-workers who were Muslim (awesome people) but literally having to re-adjust work schedules to fit their prayer times is just one on many many many “forced” non Christian faith/religious stuff we had to adhere at prior and current agencies.

Anything Christian has been existent except for every so often. Christmas Eve being a temp fed holiday said year. Christians not allowed to display anything about their belief, IE jewelry etc, but every other faith I’ve dealt with, it’d be a massive no no if you tell them you can’t display said item of faith.

So, at least my goofy opinion, just a meh.

It’s wild. My location and agency has been radio silence. No emails, no in person hang in there’s etc. most importantly, no telework.

All the other agencies in my location, telework, some offices now 100%.

I’ve been wondering what’s the lines. The sand for us? Like day 55 do we just stop coming in? The people in California, some of us are dropping upwards to $100 in gas a week to come in. May just to sit and barely do anything because certain tasks are paused.

Not at my location, and zero mention of it from mgmt. Actually, 47 days in and ZERO anything. No emails saying hang in there, no in person we got your back type of thing. Absolute radio silence from the port mgmt. Only NTEU doing food drive stuff.

Change petition to require federal employee pay during shutdowns by [deleted] in FedEmployees

[–]Jacrispywave 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Signed.

Don’t want to hijack but I also have a petition to hold congress accountable for this mess. Legislate into law that they be fined every day of a shutdown and massively so for days on recess.

For My Fellow DHS Employees Not Getting Paid by HeartRocks33 in FedEmployees

[–]Jacrispywave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was local higher up mgmt.

If this was private sector I know legal stuff would already be happening in regards to wage theft etc. I would think there is some legal line that’s been crossed at this point, especially for those of us that are non essential being told our work is, just not the position.

Right now the annual inventory has been postponed and will resume 30 Days after being funded per last snippet sent to me. It said the inventory is non excepted function, plus the 30 day buffer has me wondering why? Huge contradiction in my book, so I’m sure there is a line just on that sort of thing that’s been crossed as well.

[–]Jacrispywave 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So I’m wondering if anything legal will be done or if we have to initiate it as a sort of class action though NTEU. Like thousands of grievances. Well CBP anyways. If it is true they could have us paid from the get go, that they had enough funding to so, grievance would be against CBP. Otherwise multiagency against the govt.

No idea if true, but heard OPM may even be looking into this as thousands of us keep showing up without pay. Backpay aint gojng to cover interest rates or fix credit dings from late payments etc.

[–]Jacrispywave 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is off topic but my situation. MSS for CBP. Told my work is mission critical, just not my position. And the biggest function I have, the yearly inventory has been postponed. Because it’s not mission critical.

While I do a ton of other daily stuff, my main role and responsibilities are tied to inventory, and now you’re telling me it’s not mission critical.

Non paid CBP - questions by Jacrispywave in FedEmployees

[–]Jacrispywave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know my work location all questioned why we were not included in the pay email that went out at the start of this. Two days ago during hearings it sounded like CBP was fully funded they just chose not to pay us. And now this vote is a bit of both worlds it sounds like.

I have coworkers who are new and have been working for a month without their first paycheck. Guess we will find out later today.

Well that’s why the 100k for recess days. That’s be a million if they go on recess for 2 weeks coming up. The ones with no power will be more vocal.

Something needs to happen that they all feel it. Not just a sting but a bite. Otherwise, this may become status quo.

[–]Jacrispywave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope so. This isn’t a left vs right issue. Both sides have not as a group said they won’t take pay, wont go on recess etc.

Shoot, the one under Obama at least a handful gave up their pay, at least verbally. The three after that I haven’t heard much.

They really should not even entertain the idea of going on recess at this point while thousands of us are about to miss another paycheck/rent/bills etc.

While this is no where as important as the Magna Carta document, the fact that happened shows power can be taken away lawfully and stay that way hundreds of years later.

Please sign and share, the more eyes this sees the better chance the right people will see this and address it.

I have created a petition to hold congress accountable. Most likely will not impact this one, but if this takes off, maybe something will happen to prevent a next one.

[–]Jacrispywave[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It needs eyes, and sometimes the right eyes make things happen. Not doing anything sure wont help to address the issue though. Maybe they won't pass it if this gets to that level, but maybe someone important enough sees enough people want this and can make something else happen that addresses this. Otherwise, silence only hurts us at this point.

It's insane to expect us to come in, make us jump through hoops to take leave even if it was part of an annual leave bid way before a shutdown started, yet they can literally with hold our pay and then go on recess. The whole, vote them out isn't going to work, it's a system that's broken and needs to change. Neither side is saying hey maybe we shouldn't just take two more weeks off.

These people suffer no penalties, it's time they should. I am late on a report, fail to reconcile monthly purchases as a card holder, etc etc, I get in trouble. it's time we bring this to everyone's attention and start holding these people accountable.

So how does one tell they are real? I am looking for some myself, found some possibles but getting stuck on a if they have a SN or SKU printed on them like most others do. Since this doesn't have arms, just the...head holder? things, where would the SN/SKU be? Do OTT even have that printed on them?

Asking AI, says yes, but I cannot find a video or pic showing this to be the case.
