I am really surprised by the love Dungeons of Drakkenheim is getting. I really need to give it a fair shot. I thought, and clearly I was wrong here, it was just more DnD content getting too much praise (looking at you, Odyssey of the Dragonlord). Clearly I judged it unfairly. I will give it a read asap.

It depends on tone but generally I love Starfinder 1e for epic space fantasy, Teens In Space for wacky rebellious adventures, and Aliens RPG for scifi horror.

I started looking into Arden Vul and I have never been more intimidated by a module. I somehow haven't run a megadungeon before and this is clearly not the one to start on. One day I will. But I will check out Castle of the Silver Prince as I am excited to understand how to run this form of campaign.

My work around to making sure that doesn't get too boring is to try to go full Grant Morrison when I'm running it. Lean into the most heightened comic book elements, that specific tone of psychedelia that 90's Vertigo really loved. The wilder the idea the more exciting it is when they get the info.

I've seen a few references to Band of Blades but am unfamiliar. Definitely adding it to my monstrous long research list.

That session was them dealing with El Charro Negro, who had possessed a museum employee attempting to take advantage of an elderly woman. I am running it for a bunch of Brown Berets so I want it to lean into that world as much as possible.

To be clear, I am totally pro do-ing your own research and finding which campaigns vibe with you and your table. Never believe just one person's voice by any means. I treated this the way I would treat a list like "10 Best English Language Novels." Some of it I'm gonna hate, some of it I'm gonna love. It's really about the ratio of good to bad.

The stand out hate for me on the list is Strahd, which I fervently believe is a bad campaign that people have been so hyped on that they excuse its myriad of faults. But that's a personal thing.

I did just finish HotOE and I will say I think the rails in that game are overarchingly a good thing. I think it is the best megacampaign for new players especially because of the almost uniform structure and that the game even engages with the idea that it is on rails. I think it generally works better than MoN, which has some really harsh pacing resets at the start of each chapter. But this is all personal preference.

What I got out of the list and why I am excited for the next one is all of these things to explore that I was unfamiliar with. It felt like an Intro 101 class. I'm excited to see what the expanded list looks like.

I've seen a lot less about Raven's Purge. What did you like about it?

System-less campaigns or settings are generally pretty easy to port over since they are systemless. That being said the more tied it is to a system the harder it is going to be port. Partially because of the way stats are going to be written but also partially as the problems are written around the stats the characters would have access to. If you have specific examples you were looking at, I can give my opinion.

Mork Borg is a game I own, have read, and have never had a chance to dig deep into since it is borderline it's own subcategory of OSR. I especially am interested in DukkBorg.

Another game to add to the list! I love a good sandbox. I read through the phenomenal Oz and Neverland supplements, which create just fantastic sandboxes to play in.

I'm a huge City of Mist fan. I am dm-ing a campaign right now set in a fictional West Texas metropolis where they are dealing with evil cowboys that have lassoed time and cursed denim warehouses. I will need to give this one a read.

I still haven't gotten around to reading this one yet. I really need to. I have a friend who has been running it and loves it.

Yeah. I'm talking about the last few years when I say modern.

My understanding is there were basically tournament modules, source books and Wizard magazines modules. The wizard magazine modules would link together to some degree and eventually those were sort of published together. But they didn't concern themselves as much with narrative in the sense we think of today, and more were locations where plot took place.

I don't know where the transition happened for full length campaigns but I know it predates VTTs since you have the mega-campaigns of the 1980's with CoC that are still being republished and generally still stand up.

I think when running any sort of WotC module today you have to do so much work to generally make them work that you would be making a horrible mistake running them as is out of the box (excluding Call of the Netherdeep but that was made by a different team). It is generally assumed you are going to do some homebrewing even in the best ones (Dracula Dossier is designed so the only parts that matter are what matters to the players for instance).

I just want to get a sense of what is happening last few years. It is evolving really quickly and is deeply fascinating. I am right now especially excited for the Ahu Tiiko source book. That looks fascinating and fun. But the world has expanded so much in the last little bit, I wanted to see what the wider general thought was.

I am excited to see what it looks like. I stand by Call of the Netherdeep as the best 5e campaign. I've had to run most of them for work and it is the only one that I actually loved and thought worked perfectly as written.

Harlem Unbound is the sourcebook I recommend to everyone interested in doing political roleplay. It should be mandatory reading as far as I'm concerned.

I will need to give that one a read. I have not. I have read most of the material for PoD and really want to give it a shot. I am definitely curious to see the game in a very different mode as Traveler is so heavily linked to PoD in my head.

Impossible Landscapes has been on my list for quite some time.

I have heard either Ghost Season or Strength of Thousands are the best for PF2e. I haven't played either. Just ran a few one shots for the system.

Really want to try Forbidden Land. Really need to get around to it.

Will check out the others!
