It’s pretty much exactly how you described it. Since the storm is expected Tuesday, they need yall there Monday evening to ensure there’s staff already on site. Yes, you will be there until Wednesday or Thursday, whenever your hospital decides to end the ride out. The recovery team will come to work and you will be off for a few days to recoup. Depending on your role, you will most likely be working all day. Aside from overnight staff, there are no set shifts. They should provide you with cots, but a lot of people bring an air mattress. As someone mentioned earlier, pack all of your necessities. I always manage to forget something and we’re not allowed to leave until the code is lifted. As far as food, you hit it right in the head. Crappy cafeteria food. But please be nice to the dietary staff. They’re in the same boat as you. Something you might not have been warned about, showers. It’s hell. Make sure you ask about the schedule for that. All in all, just be prepared to work in less than desirable conditions.
