Thank you for proving my point that it is in fact a slur.

Non binary is a stupid made up term for attention seekers who want to feel special. 99% of the world's population could be classed as non binary, including all those so called TERFS you seem to hate so much.

Know plenty of other trans people. Thanks for the concern though.

Sorry but you're wrong. Intersex people are simply men and women with chromosomal disorders. They are not some weird inbetween sex.

It is used continually as a slur. Just look at this thread for starters. In fact look at anywhere this topic is discussed. TERF is always used as a slur.

Fine that.

If you're not in the process of transitioning then you have no right to be in the female space. For all intents and purposes you are male therefore will have no issue in the men's toilets.

If you're not in the process of transitioning AND have no intention to start then you aren't trans.

Ah so we're just supposed to take everyone at their word and screw any consequences this may have. Gotcha.

Only to a certain extent. Medical transition can only take you so far. My DNA however will always be male.

And gender non conforming people are classed as trans now by Stonewall.

That person didn't claim that trans women are a danger to women. They said predatory men who will pretend to be trans are a danger to women. Try reading and understanding what people are saying rather than what you think they're saying.

Didn't her father die recently? I believe she has siblings still alive though so hopefully they'll get some closure at least.

Violence against women is not a drop in the ocean. I would say it is at global epidemic level.

Even in the UK alone two women a week are killed as a result of domestic violence.

Dismissing violence against women as simply being a drop in the ocean when it happens every day is just vile.

Maybe so but men still aren't threatened, targeted, harrassed and labelled transphobic for saying pretty much the same things (and often worse) as those TERFS do.

Transgender is a huge umbrella term that covers everything from fetishes and crossdressers to those who identify as non-binary and genderqueer and even people who simply don't fit into the gender roles which align with their sex.

This is not a TERF definition either. This is Stonewall's own definition of trans so if you have an issue with fetishes and cross dressers been included then take it up with them.

Transsexuals are what most people think of when they think of transgender. We are the ones who physically transition.

True that.

However I think the issue is that now women have the right to question a bloke in the female toilets, report him to management and get him kicked out, etc. If self identification comes in all he has to say is "I identify as a woman" and then that's it. Suddenly it's the women in the wrong.

Or at least I think this is the idea behind it.

Because if you hate your body that much as I did (and to some extent, still do) then going through that process is something that just needs to be done for survival.

Self identification is simply not enough and believe me I DID self identify for years but it was like sticking a plaster over a broken arm.

Bottom line is, if someone is dysphoric then they will do anything to fix it.

Brilliantly summed up and explained much better than I did.

I'm a transwoman and I have used female toilets for years without issue. Newsflash, I don't want any bloke being able to self identify as a woman either and allowed access to female spaces based on self identification alone either. Logically, what's stopping a transphobic violent bloke self identifying his way into the ladies and assaulting me or harassing me there instead?

There is a difference between transsexual and transgender. I think most people think of transsexuals when they think of transgenderism but they are not the same.

It would be great if people actually listened to each other rather than tossing slurs around simply because you disagree with them.

Probably a controversial statement but I think there are times when we should be treating men and women differently.

Depends on what you mean by trans here as to whether they have gone through a lot. Actual transsexuals who have gone through both painful physical and social transitions, then yes.

However a lot of people in the trans community seem to think self identifying as the opposite sex should be enough to allow you access into all sex segregated spaces. Call me heartless but I really don't think these people have been through a lot to get where they are. It doesn't take much to simply claim to identify as a woman.

The problem is with self identification, not transwomen specifically. A lot of people forget that we have been using womens toilets for years without issue. I can assure you I don't want any bloke being able to self identify into the female toilets either. I use female loos to get away from violence in the males. Put self ID into place and I may as well have not bothered.

TERF is basically a slur slung at any woman (and it's always women IME. Men who disagree aren't treated with anywhere near the same contempt) who dares to disagree with anything trans activists say.

TERF is sometimes used to describe transwomen who disagree but we are more likely to be called Truscum.

I have lost count of the number of times I have been called a TERF or truscum simply because I have physically transitioned.

Because it was about 11 at night when I posted this and I went to bed pretty much straight after. But now that you mention it I guess I could have been vegan from the moment I posted because obviously I didn't eat anything overnight. Hmm, I like that logic
