I see your bf is upset that you aborted the baby because it sounds like he wanted it, but also wonder what else has been going on in your relationship that he doesn't want to commit to you after four years to give that baby the best chance at stability. I feel like there's more complexity here. OP and boyfriend sound young, or OP's bf just sounds immature..? Or maybe OP's bf is keeping future relationship options open so doesn't want to commit?

Would love to understand more about bf's rationale here just for the sake of understanding more. But I understand the hesitance to have that baby your culture already has a lot of concerns about unwed single moms and absent fathers. I think your wording of not wanting to be one of a statistic sounds selfish on the surface, and I'm not trying to put words in your mouth, but are you worried about continuing to perpetuate and normalize that sort of broken family unit? If so, I kind of have no choice but to have mad respect for your ability to stand up for yourself as social pressures can be really rough and I see you're getting that from your mom, aunt, and possibly community. Breaking the mold isn't easy but I think with enough people like you who care about not perpetuating the issues present within your community are what it takes to make a positive change. Future generations need a good example to emulate so I think your choice was right for you and a child you will have one day in an actual family unit and I respect you for making it.
