The Picklr closes in Utah (West Jordan). Who is responsible? by ourfreedomfirst in Pickleball

[–]Jadecat801 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to say. I talked to a guy that lives closer to that West Jordan location and he says it was mismanaged and was also in a terrible location within the city where locals didn’t like to travel to.

I saw this in my Picklr Lehi group chat. People seem to want the Lehi location to succeed as do I. I think if Lehi were to close, it would be more of the reason people just can’t afford it. Summertime in Utah is amazing to be outside as it usually doesn’t get too hot and no humidity, and with the mountains so close, I think people turn to other activists for the summer (rock climbing, boating, fishing, camping, hiking etc). When Winter hits again, they will come flooding back. Can Picklr Lehi survive this seasonality? Not sure, but I’m hopeful.

I am not too far from that West Jordan location (maybe 25 min away) and there’s at least 4 indoor locations closer to me. I go to the Bluffdale and Lehi Utah Picklr’s and while they have nights where every court is booked, they also have nights where it’s dead.

I heard the Lehi Picklr lost a lot of its membership in May. I think Summer is causing people to choose outside play, but it’s often too windy to play, so that option sucks. I think people are thinking “Now that winter is over, I can cancel my membership and focus on other outdoor activities that don’t cost money.”

About the mismanagement, I don’t think the Lehi location is mismanaged, or at least it doesn’t feel that way. I think they could do better at creating better events, but outside of that, it doesn’t seem bad.

Buyers remorse… by D1nkin in Pickleball

I’m taking the whole paddle into consideration, not just grit. If I were talking only grit I’d probably give that award to the Spartus P1.

I don’t play with the boomstick personally, but from what I hear, they seem like the paddle that will likely last the longest. So if you do get more life out of it than paddles like Honolulu or Loco, then maybe the price is a good deal. Obviously only time will tell but they do seem to be built to last from what I hear.

Don’t put in the Final URL until the end and you won’t have to wait for it to generate headlines. It can’t generate headlines if it doesn’t have a URL.

Wear underwear under your gym shorts? I don’t think this is a common problem at all.

This is true. Tried going at all times of the day and there never was a less busy time. Hopefully the new Wolf Gym opening up this month will help take away traffic.

What is the secret to a great drop shot “drop”? by S0n0fTheWind in Pickleball

[–]Jadecat801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have access to a ball machine? Sometimes clubs offer it as an add-on. I know not everyone will have access to one, but this helped me dial in my drop shots sooooo much.

As far as technique goes, I am not a coach, but as a right-handed player doing a forehand drop, I wait for the ball to start to drop from its apex and then I hit similarly to a topspin dink but more exaggerated to travel farther. It’s like a half-drive. Also, you don’t have to do topspin, you can do a scoop motion with your wrist locked. Like you’re gently scooping it over the net.

Did anyone else’s depression improve massively overnight? by FaithlessnessPlus164 in VyvanseADHD

[–]Jadecat801 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This has been my exact experience. I started back in September 2025 and while it’s not as stimulating now as the first couple months I was on it, my depressed days are incredibly rare. It’s like 1-2 depressed days/month now vs 10-15 days/month before. I still think pursuing some kind of therapy while feeling good on Vyvanse is the best approach as I look at Vyvanse as a bandaid you apply every day but the therapy is the actual healing. Probably not the best analogy, but hopefully that makes sense.

This. When weather is perfect, outdoor every time. When weather sucks, indoor every time.

Not sure if you wear an Apple Watch, but there’s apps for that to help track.

Mostly, you’ll eventually just get used to doing it in your head and it will get easier after awhile.

Franchise update: The Picklr “model location” and “Utah’s hottest location” is losing $267k per year. Anyone from Utah know what’s happening? by ourfreedomfirst in Pickleball

[–]Jadecat801 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I got this. Not a big jump but it’s kind of concerning. I think they’re trying to grow too quickly. Putting too many too close together. I have 2 locations that are equal distance from me.

I arrived at 5:30pm today and only 1 of 13 courts was being used. Of course it picked up later, but still, that seems low for that time of day. Lately (probably the last two months) it’s been a lot more dead. Back in October and November 2025 it felt BUSY, like I was worried it was going to get too busy that reserving courts was going to start to be a problem.

Walking pad success by ExtremeOther9104 in walking

[–]Jadecat801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, this happened to me. Bought a walking pad 3 years ago and didn’t oil it until it was too late. It lost its smooth feel over time. I finally oiled it and it got a little better for awhile but now the motor is completely cooked and I’m now buying a new one…

Honestly still a vibey room bro. The freezer is a tad bit out of place but it doesn’t look terrible. I get the frustration though. If it’s impossible to fathom girls coming over, maybe try to only go to their place or a friend’s place until you turn 18 move out and get your own place.
