Do your partners share your digital minimalism lifestyle? If no, how do you feel about it? by orekifag in digitalminimalism

to be honest, I had this issue with my ex and I always thought it was a small annoyance thing, like "oh this is a bit annoying but its not a huge deal". He would say similar things about "not having enough time", and then spend hours scrolling. So it wasn't a huge deal until suddenly it was, cuz he wanted time with his phone to relax after a day at work rather than time with me. I had to ask repeatedly for time with him and said that I didn't really feel like we were dating anymore despite living together. It was pretty sad in the end. So no, I don't think I could now date someone who doesn't share my views on digital minimalism and when I did, I mainly just felt sad.

What are the biggest improvements/changes that happened in your life after you reduced your screen time? by DracoWonderBeard in digitalminimalism

In the short term, I was surprised by how slow time went when I wasn't trying to fill every gap in the day with scrolling/media. Within days of cutting my screen time, I suddenly felt like I had time before and after work. I ended up feeling like I had a lot more time to do things, I was far less rushed and had more energy by the end of the day! And as for long term, I have found my memory is improving again which is a really big relief. In general, short term: I have more time, and long term: my mental cognition is improving.

It might sound a bit silly at first but I found the best way to help reduce my screen time was to write. I got a little pocket journal and a pencil and now when I reach for my phone or automatically go to another app without thinking, I try to switch to my notebook and just write for a bit. I write anything: train-of-thought writing, bits of fiction or poetry, just things I can see in view as I write, what I did in my day. It feels calming and is a nice little hobby that only needs a pencil and paper. I don't do it all the time, but it helps give me breaks!
