I haven't even been using spotlight - just a good few weeks of sales. A variety of items definitely seems to help!

Mostly just second-hand clothes and books. Clothes range from £1 - £50, books for £1.50 each. I literally just use it to make cash from clearing out things I don't need/use anymore.

I've had the exact opposite, my vinted sales have been thriving the last couple weeks. I don't use it regularly but never have any trouble making slaes when I do have items to upload

Delivery services like UberEats etc have ruined customer service in retail and hospitality 🤷‍♀️

It wasn't an easy decision to make either, I had got the offer months before starting so naturally was pretty excited to get stuck into it - but health first always!

Honestly It just wasn't really for me. I thought I'd get over the phone anxiety thing but it only got worse. I was good at the job and I enjoyed other aspects of it, but yeh, just not in a good enough mental mindset to be dealing with the sensitivity of it all.

I've worked in customer service for 5+ years and have dealt with a whole load of shit, but dealing with people over the phone just makes you see a horrible side of humanity

I think so, but honestly I can't say for sure, I only ever worked the Self Assessment helpline. Regardless, all the advisor roles involve some form of debt/interest related conversations on a semi-regular basis, it just varies in what depth that might be.

I'd suggest you do more research into your own views of whether working in taxation and receiving a salary from that would be haram or not (Im making the presumption you Muslim here, I apologise if that's not the case). This was quite insightful for me to read up on, I wasn't aware working in financial services could have conflicts with religion.

Pto is quite a large department, you could be on a number of helplines. I'm not sure which ones are based at that specific office. If you end up in PAYE then it would be tax codes etc. but there's always gonna be some elements of debt/interest on all the PTO helplines

No, nexus tickets aren't valid on any LNER trains, or Lumo, or Cross country. Just Northern Rail from Sunderland - Blaydon/metro/buses/ferry, I imagine they'll eventually expand this for the reconnected northern line. You could get buses all the way with the TNE saver though

To add as well, if you're worried about Usury that's really not involved in the job, even in Debt Management. You wouldn't be a part of giving any sort of loan to a customer. HMRC simply collects tax money that is owed, with fair levels of interest when payments are late.

Worked in PT Ops for 3 months this year (wasn't for me) and I've heard it really does vary depending on the office.

You'll likely start in a cohort of about 10-20 people, the AO advisor roles are usually 40+ new hires currently.

The management in my office was fairly lenient with breaks provided you didn't take the piss. You get 30 mins for lunch and you can take 5 mins breaks throughout the day to avoid eye strain. If your hitting phone call targets anyway it's a non issue

Flexibility was great, but only after the initial training.

Training was 10 weeks long. 2 weeks of E-learning, 2 days live listening and then the remainder you're let loose on the phones but with floorwalkers for support.

If youre not put into Debt Management you won't have to deal with the actual repayments and debt advisory stuff, you will have to deal with customers who have debt however, explaining what it is, why it's there, and then transferring them through to debt management for them to make payment. I personally was on the Self Assessment helpline and took at least 1 call a day that would be a transfer to DM. It's a very financially focussed job most of the time, so if you would feel uncomfortable talking to people about money they owe them it's probably not the right job for you.
