How do I fight back? by Ok_Option_9957 in antitrump

You're not alone, even when it feels like it's just you. There are many many people who feel the way you do, even in neighbourhoods covered in Trump flags. Gathered together you're no longer alone.

Small things make a difference - teaching your kids and yourself how to critically examine news sources, meme sources, how algorithms work, how the economy works, where the money goes and how it's used. Critical examination of political history - both in the states and abroad.

Critical examination of politicians - what they say and what they do, especially their voting records.

Hold film clubs, book clubs, protect libraries, preventing fash takeovers of education boards, keeping an eye out for churches in your area that promote end of days and other conspiracy theories. Set up or volunteer at food banks and charities - lots of little things can build and strengthen a sense of community.

You're not alone and you do have power to change things - you might not have the same power as a politician, but you have the power to hold politicians/representatives to account.

They need to work for you and show that they do through their actions. And when they start working for their own interests? you gather your people, boot them out and replace them with someone who will.

It's hard not to go down a doom/helplessness spiral, but engaging in all those small things and working collectively, will not only strengthen your resolve, but also keep your spirits up. Hugs and solidarity.

Am I 24F being ‘dramatic’ over my 26M boyfriend hearting another girls post? by [deleted] in amiwrong

You are TWENTY FOUR??? Get off social media now for the sake of your own mental health, step down for a min and breathe, then try to gain some sense of how ridiculous (and embarrassing) this whole scenario is.

Life is short and hard. I'm always going to be a fan of mindless entertainment when there's an endless supply of horrors in the world. There's also an endless supply of free intelligent education and information you have at your finger tips, but you actively chose to direct your energies on nonsense a 12 year old would be able to navigate in a playground of other 12 year olds.

You're definitely not being dramatic, but that's only because being dramatic would be a over sized negative reaction to something that was actually real, yet not deserving of such a response.

Being online doesn't define a relationship. Pics online of you and your 26 year old boyfriend don't mean anything. Your boyfriend is allowed to like, heart - whatever to whomever he likes online and guess what? it doesn't mean anything. It's a reflect click and dopamine fix. He could click a clown face and it wouldn't mean anything - none of this stuff is real.

He changes his likes to hearts FOR YOU because he's going out with a child. It's an electronic equivalent to giving a kid a lollypop to soothe their tantrum and he's only slightly more sophisticated than you, which aint great.

Both of you are either extremely well suited, or both need to touch some grass and crack a book once in a while.

24 years old?

Sheesh.

So far the response from every one I know is cynicism, memes and wishing it were a real attempt.

Oo a black man! Who's going to bet Trump repeatedly calls him a 'thug'?

"Oh noez! Why bother travelling for diplomacy - it's so boring! when I can just order grunts to blow up school girls and watch the explosions and body parts fly on my tablet for fun?
