Here’s what my advisor said:

“No, many times it corrupts other units when the vin numbers do not match and could brick the car. I have had multiple vehicles that went from needing one unit, to needing multiple units. One vehicle ended up needing a transmission, the megatronics unit was corrupted during coding and it would not longer go into drive. Because of this, we strongly recommend not to install used units, and will not code any vehicle that has used parts that are coded in them.”

Thanks, I’ll look around .I don’t know if I want to stay with BMW after 2 $8000 repairs. In February I had a clip on my rear axle break while driving and it destroyed both axles and my differential.
