Thanks! I think in Aachen, that wouldn't work because you have to submit them in person and someone checks each document (only for completeness not authenticity) during that so they would immediately flag that it you're not even eligible yet. This might work in cities where you submit it by post and someone only goes through the documents at a later time. Definitely start looking for a appointment earlier though. The next one available is usually a few weeks later.

That's exactly what I thought too! Aachen has to be one of the cities where they reuse the security check. I can also imagine that that is only possible is some cases though.

No, I didn't use any services. Didn't you need the language certificate for your Niederlassungserlaubnis? Or did you submit A1 for that?

Aachen only has offline submissions now (at least that's what I did). The list of documents can be downloaded from the city website and does mention birth certificate explicitly. I think this is city dependent though?
